We needed yesterday’s Kiffin for that game. That decision was awful. Threw away our mulligan. Would be tied for SEC lead this morning…
You’re right, and in hindsight we would all agree. Many wanted him to go for it in the moment; however, punting, while maybe not the best option, is not a terrible option. We punted them deep and allowed them to convert several big 1st downs.
But yea…..would love to have that one back.

It will come back and haunt lsu.

It would have been called back on a BS penalty. What else did you need to see from the officials in that game, not to realize that? LSU was not going to be allowed to win that game.

I keep saying this, we should have been able to rely on our stout and proven defense to keep them from driving the entire field in short time.
Know what is proven that we cant rely on? Our run blocking. I absolutely stand by the decision regardless of the outcome, 80% chance that play gets stuffed and kentucky has the ball at short field with plenty of time for a short drive.

It was the right call. Our defense and the no whistle on the pile push lost the game.

I’m looking at the possible silver lining
Keep winning and we are in the playoff. That loss might allow us NOT to go to the SECCG and face another brutal game, allowing time to recover and prepare for a playoff run

See, as much as I was pissed and now just lesser pissed, we control our destiny . Making the playoffs means nothing if you can’t win. Alabama is having a down year, Texas is obviously beatable and Tenner is a good team, if you can’t beat those 3, then we aren’t winning shite in the playoffs. Sure it helps to have a mulligan game, but let’s be honest, if you can’t win those 3, you aren’t winning the Natty.

I'm sure that call is something that Kiffin beats himself about on a daily basis for quite some time. We had the field goal insurance and the game should have ended on that play!

Not a popular opinion but it was the right call.

DAMN right. I totally agree! LSU on our own 35 yard line. 1:30 to go in the game. WITH a lead. And KY had trouble making FG’s in the game already. And they had no timeouts.
Punt the ball, make em earn 45 yards with little time before they attempt a FG. Nothing wrong with that decision.

Might be a blessing in disguise and gave us that extra focus/edge/motivation to push to get better, realizing no more margin for error
Just sayin
The last time lsu lost an overtime game in Lexington we were a 2-loss national champion three months later
If we woulda beat UK, never know, maybe we get feeling good/comfortable and drop State or Auburn. Things play out weird sometime
