That damn 4th and one @ Kentucky

We needed yesterday’s Kiffin for that game. That decision was awful. Threw away our mulligan. Would be tied for SEC lead this morning…

It’s not a cop out but I honestly think this team beats Kentucky by 2 tds if we played today.
This team had a lot of new pieces and a new coaching staff and a qb that wasn’t practicing in the spring.
We get substantially better every week.

As the biggest Kiffin fan on this board, no one was more disappointed in that call than I was.
But it was game 6 in his rebuild of this program and culture, and seeing the way the team and Kiffin himself have responded may end up being better in the long term.
We never know how things will work out, so the key is always to let the story of the season evolve and evaluate once we have the complete picture.
That said, I am very tired of this nerd at Kentucky and would absolutely love another shot at those bitches before the season is over.
No question who the better team and coach is, and that fanbase needs a reality check the same as those scorned pussies in Oxford that tied themselves to the Golding anchor.

If he would have gone for it and not made it you or someone else would have made a thread with the same name.

We’re the number 1 team in the country on 4th down.
Zero reason to punt there
Zero reason to punt there

You could argue the team wouldn’t have been as locked in at Auburn with a 5-1 record and lost.
Never know. Just win.

Truth is. We had the lead and our defense should have stood up for one last drive.
Kiffin would have heard “he gambles too much” if we would not have made it.
BK would have lost to msu or AU.

That call will haunt Kiffin and this fanbase for a long time
Worst of all, you get the trash Kentucky fans thinking they can talk shite
LSU should never lose to trash programs like Kentucky.

If we win out and make the playoffs, it’s nothing more than a blip on the radar screen.

I made a thread about it the other day. I think the direct snap to Jones has like a 98% success rate for gaining at least a yard. No reason we didn't run it.

100% agree.
.
Kiffin owns the mistake and undoubtedly regrets it.
However, not going for that 4th down may have been the best thing that has happened to him and this team moving forward. They know they had it, and are now determined to prove they belong.

Yep. They'd say with this defense why go for it there on your side of the field.

In hindsight we should have gone for it but prior to that final drive UK had 148 total yards on 6 drives and the two long drives they had, 65 and 51 yards (a FG and a missed FG) took 5:19 and 4:45. Kiffin had trust in Baker not playing soft and the defense performing how they did the rest of the 2nd half. However, Baker did Baker things and played soft instead of how the defense was called the rest of the 2nd half.

It happenned
Nothing we can do about it now
Time to get over it and move on
We just have to win out
And who says we would have made it

That soft zone with no pressure up front is what cost us that game. You play that all game and you lose by 50.

Play aggressive defense and it was the correct call
Clearly LSU has better players
Kentucky made the big plays
LSU stepped on their own feet, clumsy play
The punt return was a pivotable play
I think Lane was out coached specially at the end of the game

We can be upset about the call, it definitely spurred thoughts of Les Miles in my brain BUT....
The SEC decided that was the game with the least viewership to hang an L on Lane and LSU.
The 4th and 1 sucked but we fought the entire SEC that night and still had the opportunity for a W.
