Yes, there are some good folks, however, these few good folks are operating with blinders on as they hand over $$ to Damon Talley. Damon is certainly no friend of Tiger Band (based on his previous comments). I'm sure he's telling everything they wish to hear, but I'm certain there is not anything close to an audit on exactly how the funds are used!

No.... it didn't impact Southern's jukebox... they damn near busted my eardrum...whereas you can barely hear LSU play.

I’m pretty sure they’ve gone through his other business for leadership training and/or CPR training, things like that. I’ve heard that’s just the tip of the iceberg. But yeah, overall it’s been a lazy approach.

It was an internal hire. He directed the Director of the Bengal Brass for a few years before he got his current job as Director of the Marching Band.

His job before that was high school director. Leading Bengal Brass isn’t enough experience to be the director of Tiger Band.

So that’s 2 people in director’s jobs that don’t have enough experience.

It’s like hiring a HS coach to be HC of LSU and his OC is guy that used to play basketball.

As a TB Alum I'm not seeing the TB play and march at the same time very much over the years and it's getting worse.
The UT halftime show blew the TB out of the water. It was embarrassing. They need a change in leadership. Bring back Linda Morehouse!

There’s also someone with a title “Director of Bands” that has no music degree,

He has a bachelor of music degree in Music Education, a master of music degree in conducting, and a doctor of music arts degree in conducting.

I agree with this over the past 5 years, but I think this year has been a swing back in the right direction.

Only thing I agree with is songs being played too fast, but that may have to do with them squeezing them in with the era of hurry-up in full effect.

LSU’s school of music has never been prestigious, not even the best in the state. We had great drum line pipelines & tradition & a great marching band director, but without that it’s a mediocre music program & that’s being nice.

The ONLY scholarships that Tiger Band has are funded by Athletics! The Four Notes Sham is funding Damon Talley, and we all know he hates the Tiger Band. Remember, he was QUOTED as saying, "the Tiger Band members are OVERPAID and UNDERWORKED."

This is not true. Athletics funds the stipends, and there are scholarships that donors provide exclusively for Tiger Band. The members of the band are told what the qualifications are during band camp.

The Four Notes Club is working to provide endowed scholarships for Tiger Band members.

I admire your passion, but your facts are wrong here.

When I was a student I remember everyone hating on her. I don't remember why specifically, but wasn't she in charge when Neck was cancelled?

I agree.....however, with the current leadership, more numbers will not matter. The teaching/leadership is poor (at best).

Which is why I included my last statement.

Not sure if it's due to an in-state decline in high school bands or not, but there's certainly a noticeable difference.

The only thing remotely resembling HS music “education” in Baton Rouge is U-high… and that’s a big problem.

Sorry, I botched that one.

The person I’m referring to is “Assistant Director of Bands”…and has another title to his name as well.

The Golden Girls definitely hated her, because she was tough on them. Linda designed great halftime shows and very good music educator.

I'm not sure if it was because the season was so magical, but Tiger Band seemed a lot better during 2019. They literally blew the OU band out of Mercendes-Benz Stadium duting the Peach Bowl and they did the same thing to Clemson's band during the NC game in the Superdome.

I noticed that in the Dome. FSU had the better band that night. At the time I thought it was because I sat on the FSU sideline; sad to hear they are not loud enough in TS as well.

She wasn’t great at doing the choreography for them. She turned them into glorified cheerleaders without the acrobatics instead of a dance line.

ULL

Im not sure if they still do this, but when I was in high school, ULL (was still USL back then) would actively recruit band members.

They also had a two day clinic that ended with all the high school attendees performing the half time show with the ULL band.

I had two friends who chose USL for college just because of that.

Back then LSU did none of that. But they may not have had to.

Okay, I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks their timing on some songs has been really off this year.

They also slowed the Alma Mater waaaaaay down during pregame, to where the lyrics shown on the digital displays don't match the notes being played.
