They play too quiet (although that may just be the piped in music playing over them).

It’s the piped in music. I’ve been going to games for 30+ years. You used to be able to hear the band better. I‘m not against the music bc it does help get the crowd moving sometimes but it can easily be overdone.

Not correct.....The piped-in music has nothing to do with the band's volume since the band does not play while the piped-in music is playing. I agree there is way too much piped-in music, however, the band is just sitting there while that music is being played.

As someone who was in Tiger Band during Roy’s tenure, it was clearly slipping. There was no discipline, there was no competition, and there was no fear. Halftime shows were exceptionally lazy, and 90% park and play. The difference between Morehouse and Roy was like night and day. I kinda liked it better under Roy because I was lazy, but the band wasn’t nearly as good sounding or marching.

Well, that pretty much disqualifies you from any reasonable discussion about quality, insight, or the ability to see how other factors may come into play when evaluating a situation.

You are dead wrong about this......I have spoken to a number of band directors (college and high school) who said the band's sound improved under Roy's direction. My ears are not qualified to make that judgment, but I'll trust those who are trained professionals.

I’m literally a trained professional musician who was marching and playing in the group at the time, but I’m not a trustworthy source because as a full-time engineering student I liked not having to work as hard for my $1000 stipend even though I could see the culture being created was detrimental to the band as a whole? Kick rocks!

Lots of complaints for a regular fan.

Must be a TGBFTL alum.

Really? I guess when hiding behind fake names online, one can become a "professional" musician overnight! Hold on........let's wait until tomorrow, then I'll be a professional musician too!

You should read the OT and get to know personae.
He IS a professional musician. I had no idea he had been in Tiger Band, though.

A few years ago they tried mic'ing up the band, but it sounded awful. Mainly because the sound system in Tiger Stadium is shite.
