this is what's hilarious:

LSU v Clemson had the same implications as USC v Texas in 2005.

USC was coming off of a NC the year before

Both teams had heisman finalists

Both teams were undefeated

Clemson was riding an undefeated streak like USC was

The only difference is that we slapped the shite out of Clemson while Texas v USC came down to the wire.

Neither USC or Texas is in the discussion for Top 3 best teams of all time.

When you look at the numbers, it isn't even close.

Never more true words spoken. Some of our own fans need to hear this as well.

By whose standard? The AP didn’t name Auburn or Utah NC like it did USC in 2003 so no they have no claim and no they weren’t better than
Oklahoma who was also undefeated going in. USC was the best team

Texas’s best team was 1969, but they were nowhere as great as the 1019-20 Tigers.

Michigan St must have had a lousy coach

To be fair, it was his first game. (And they did beat #7 Michigan there 8 weeks later.)

The big "three" for at least "modern" era football teams are Nebraska (1995), Miami (2001) and LSU (2019)

Yep. The others IMO would be 2004 USC and 2008 Florida. 2005 USC probably the best team to not win a title.

Best season ever has to be 2019 LSU.

I don’t think 2005 Texas was best ever but they were pretty damn good.

TBH I think USC would’ve beaten Auburn by double digits.

Didn’t 2008 Florida lose to Ole Miss? They’re not in the discussion.

LSU 15 wins vs
Texas with 13

I think 2019 LSU is better, but comparing total wins does nothing to help that argument.

It's not Texas' fault they only played 13 games.

It's a cop-out, but it is not inaccurate to say it's not the ButtHorns' fault their opponents weren't strong. Same with the number of wins; they'd claim 2005 would go undefeated just the same with the playoff.

Those are simply implications of their idea that their 05 team was the best ever. In other words, the resumes are irrelevant when their favorite squad is the GOAT in their heads.

The next time there is a convergence of schematic innovation, talent, cohesion and will to win, that team will wreck its schedule and become the next GOAT. We're not going to acknowledge that team as such unless they also wearing purple and gold. We're not being honest with ourselves if we say otherwise.

Tf does “Texas won 13 games we won 15” have to do with anything? Also, we shouldn’t be using SOS to determine who’s better, we have to compare the actual teams. I would think LSU is a lot better but 2005 is a different era than 2020, OSU Clem LSU would probably all beat that texas team just because how times have changed and how much better players/schemes have gotten even in a 15 year span

Plus they had an unstoppable force at QB and a lot of pros, sound familiar?

and after that they had some really good teams with Colt McCoy the next 4 seasons.

But Alabama broke McCoy and Texas in the 2010 NC, and Texas hasn't been the same since.

Hot take! LSU fans REALLY think their 2019 team was the bestest! I’ll bet Auburn fans think Cam’s team was the best and Bama fans think a Bama team was the best.

Their biggest “go to” is that the championship game was the most-watched ever.
