Pearson just hit. Guess he wants 2 or 3 innings of solid defense before the game is over. When the spot comes up to hit if it’s not a bunt situation, we may see another hitter then Stevenson.

I don't understand making that move now rather than when when Pearson goes up to bat.

I think Bianco's in for his glove, not his bat.

Dude it’s because they brought in a left hander.

It’s a defensive move I guess.
Exactly what it is. Pearson may have gotten one more at bat this game. We have the narrow lead. Jay is playing defense.

So you say they don’t care about singles, so why do they implement the shifts? Putting the second baseman in shallow right is designed to take away the home run? No moron, it is to take away the base hit. The general idea is to get the batter out. If you simply put the ball into the vacated area, it will stop the shift. If you can understand this, then there is no sense trying to explain any further.

Then it could have been made later in the game when the spot came up to bat again.

I don't know about that move Bianco was definitely not 100% last game he played. I don't understand it as a defensive move if he's still not 100%

It’s both defense and offense. Bianco is a more experience defender and a RH bat. You can always go to Stevenson later. Travinski, Leto, Safford also come into play.

The shift is designed to take away a side of the field from power hitters who just pull balls.
It takes away hard hit line drives, hard hit ground balls from peopl who generally can’t do those things the other way.

Ben - Riley kind of looks like a truck driver.
