The more I think about it the more I think he got screwed on first team sec. Dude is a beast on defense this year. I know Condon is HR leader but there’s more to baseball than hitting. And tanks isn’t a slouch at the plate. Maybe I’m in the minority.

Condon is literally the number 1 prospect in this year’s draft I’m sure you know more than every scout though and Tanks just got screwed.

Condon plays like 5 different positions. So you can argue that he should have gotten a utility spot, but you can’t say that he isn’t valuable defensively.

I’m not sayin condon didn’t deserve first team. He could have been the utility player. Tanks deserved 3B.

He’s literally a utility player and there is literally a first team spot for two utility players

I found this in the rule book.
quote:

The student-athletes selected for the designated hitter/utility positions must meet at least one of the following criteria; 1) play at least a total of 50 percent of the team's conference games at two or more positions, 2) play at least 50 percent of the team's conference games as the designated hitter, or 3) play at least 50 percent of the team's conference games at DH and a position.

I have no idea if this applies to Condon.

He played 16 games exclusively at third and 1 other game between 3rd and right field. So third was the only option.

The following was posted in the Tigers snubbed on all-SEC team thread by LSUfball19 prior to the start of the SEC tourney. I do not know the veracity of the data. Tigers snubbed

Condon played the following in 54 games (appears that he played multiple positions in several individual games) that UGA played in 2024.

1B - 9 games
3B - 29 games
CF - 11 games
LF - 8 games
RF - 7 games

29/54 is greater than 50%, however it would be interesting to know how many games he started at 3B. Although an argument could be made under #1 for utility player based on the above raw numbers.

Your numbers included non conference games. It was posted above that he played exclusively 3B in 16 SEC games which is over 50% so he doesn’t qualify for the utility position.

Condon is a utility player not a 3rd baseman.
