Why.... We play for a Natty every 5 years. Three different coaches have won one.
Why not...if you don't know about all the little bullshite O has done the past few years the firing looks bad in the eye of other coaches.

Until then, they don't really care.
I mean. . . isn't this true of us Tiger Fans too? We just ran off a coach who won a natty 2 years ago and last 2 years there's been plenty of whining about lack of interest, attendance, motivation amongst the LSU fanbase.

Of course it is. Flagship school and only major college program in a talent rich state, passionate fanbase, tremendous financial resources, in the strongest athletic conference, strong national brand,
Realistically the Top 5 jobs are Bama, OSU, UGA, Texas, and LSU and the order doesn't really matter. Florida is also closer to the top 5 than it is to the next best 10.

I'm in LA about 8 times a year, and I see more LSU hats than USC and UCLA hats combined.

Out of your list, I would take Notre Dame out, and replace with OU or Georgia.
Notre Dame is pretty irrelevant in Football. They get put on a pedestal because of their past. But they haven't done shite in football since the mid 90's. That one championship game they played in 2013 was a fluke.

The fan base is disinterested. Lacks the passion of the SEC or Big 10

You can't swing a dead cat in that state without hitting a 5-star football player. So, that alone makes it at least a top 10 job.
If only Fayetteville and Little Rock could swap geographically, we would get more of that north Louisiana talent. Alas ...

Open checkbook and top 3 fertile recruiting ground. That's all you need.

I've seen pictures of California cities.
I'd say USC is #2.

LSU is a top 10-15 job. The perception of BR keeps it from being top 5. Maybe the perception of Louisiana does too.
When Saban was considering a move back to college his wife said "it's not Baton Rouge"
That's telling,

1 Bama- history, sustained success, near by talent. Top 3 brand, great facilities
2 Ohio st.- history, success, top 5 brand, top pick for any player in the Midwest and east north of mason Dixon line.
3 Georgia great in state talent, great facilities, recent success, easier path to conference championship is a good overall conference.
4 Oklahoma- history, top 10 brand, established recruiting success in region. School is invested in successful football program.
5 LSU- good in state talent, great facilities, school is invested in football team success. Top 10 brand.
6 USC- top 5 brand, boosters have very deep pockets, desirable location, history.
7 Texas- top 5 brand, boosters have deep pockets, great facilities, school is invested in football.
8 Clemson - recent success, good facilities, school is invested in winning.
9 A&M- school is invested, lots of talent although highly contested, boosters have deep pockets, school is invested in winning.
10- notre dame- top 3 brand, history, recruits nationally.

Yes. 3 national titles in the last 20 years.

you disagree with USC being a Top 5 job. . . seriously?
I don’t think it’s top 10. That program reeks of apathy.

LSU is by far, the best job. That is a quote, not from me, but several notable National sports commentators.

Tier 1-Bama
Tier 2-Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC
Tier 3-LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Texas
Tier 4-Auburn, Michigan, Texas A&M
Tier 5-Ole Miss, Florida, OU
Tier 6-Oregon, Arkansas, Penn State, Tennessee
Tier 7-Wisonsin, Washington, Nebraska, Iowa, South Carolina
That’s my opinion. So I’d say yeah, we are potentially top 5 depending how you look at it.

LSU is the 2nd best job in the SEC, and that’s only because of Bear and Saban success at Bama. It is certainly better than USC.
When Miles was fired coaches were scared of the expectations. That's why more didn't look to us.
Now that O has also won a Natty that makes their reservations invalid. 3 for 3 is pretty good.
