IMHO , he’s a good steward of your program, very process- oriented and professional, flexible, hardworking, knows football. I just don’t think he’s more than average at motivating and preparing a team, particularly early in a season. I’d love to see him be the GOAT at LSU. 3 seasons in he seems like a worthy but underwhelming place holder.

I think this might be the best description of Kelly I've seen yet.

His teams improve as the season go on. Unfortunately for us his Central Michigan and Notre Dame teams were much more disciplined. He hasn't made the best off-season coaching hires.

I wish we played more inspired football, but we win close games…..unless it’s week 1

His teams are consistently unprepared and undisciplined. He still struggles to win big games. He still doesn’t give a shite about special teams. He’s got good recruiting classes coming in which is good. But Jimbo also had good recruiting classes so that doesn’t do a ton for me until I see them perform. I still have major concerns about his ability to win a national championship.

Brought with him sanity and stability...he and his staff have had difficulty bringing in defensive talent and that has cost them. I'm curious to see how Baker's scheme meshes with the talent...ILB's still have poor gap fits, D lineman losing at the LOS which puts pressure on a secondary that is not quite there as far as performance. He had a trio of trancendent players last year that was able to hide some offensive weaknesses...

He is needed stability.

LSU's magic from the Saban/Miles era is gone. We're not a Top 5 program, we weren't even a ranked program in 2020 and 2021. The run is over, it's not reload anymore. Orgeron killed that.

Now, we're going into a new phase of college football, NIL and portal, 12 team playoffs, Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC. You have a lot of proud programs pushing to establish a new pecking order.
Kelly has two straight 9-3 regular seasons, and every indication is we're on track for another one, with a fantastic recruiting class incoming. It's not Georgia/Bama level success, but it's a whole lot better than what Florida and Auburn are going through right now.
We're not going to get playoff byes, but we're also not going to fall to irrelevance either. For now, I will gladly take that.

False. That team beat a ranked A&M team. Don't want to hear we only had 38 scholarship players because that's also false. Only 38 scholarship players chose to participate in bowl game. We had more scholarship players. BK didn't inherit an empty cupboard.

Laughable. BK won't sniff Les' achievements. He's also not as good as recruiter as Les or O.

We’re running the same skeletal structure we’ve run since Kelly’s been here on both sides of the ball so we can change all the coordinators we want but it’s not going to make the big difference fans are expecting.

Consistently amazed by the BS this board comes up with.

We never reoovered from the 26 juniors and seniors that left after 2019… O lost the locker room during BLM summer. 39 scholarship players when Kelly took over House was a bust Coaching staff now figured out.

Talent level. Very good not elite. 2025 class does change that

Nussmeier plenty good enough to win

WR group is definitely not where it needs to be… as I watch Jefferson go for 98 yards We do not make them defend the whole field yet.

My two cents

He has done a great job at immediately rebuilding the in program and turning us back into a winner. Recruiting looks excellent for next year which could mean great things for the future.

Disappointed in the same repeated mistakes/coaching decisions early in each season and lack of discipline I would not expect from a BK team.

What I think goes overlooked is how BK has been able to win, and produce decent seasons without a cadre of studs.

Honestly after 2020-2021 I thought we would be back to Archer-Hellman wandering the wilderness days with studs departing for out of state schools. And that did happen early on.

Look back at Les Miles and first 2 years of Orgeron, the depth chart 2s were upperclassmen 4 & 5 star athletes. Our seniors would have been recruited in the 2020-2021 classes and most of those guys aren’t in the program, for a wide myriad of reasons. In that era a star gets nicked, it’s next man up. Currently, our “next guy up” is either a true freshman (and freshmen make freshmen mistakes) or the types that would start at LA Tech or Lafayette High School The College Years. Extra talent, who aren’t starters yet, goes to special teams. Jarvis Landry was a special teams superstar as a freshman.

Now, with 105 scholly limit, NIL, immediate eligibility post transfer, plus a monster of a class coming in, some of these issues will resolve themselves.

Finally I reserve judgement on a season this early on. One, we lost 68% of production last year. Two, USCw was truly decided by 3-4 plays, two of which were unbelievable catches by USC receivers. Nicholls was an ugly start but damn how many times does LSU play to its level of competition? Troy, UAB audibles, Moo State games come to mind. USCe started rough but that crowd was electric, every ball bounce in the first half went their way.

THAT SAID.

Go for the damned points. Want to fire up a team? Get a goal line stand. Script your first drive.

Instill a killer mentality. Hire motivational speakers or firey

Learn from wins (holy Hell USCe has so many teachable moments- that win is a coach’s wet dream- win and have lots of things to work on)

Institute disciplined aggression.

Rise the hot hand— if Caleb Durham is having a career day don’t take him off the field unless he asks to.

Keep your foot on the pedal

Everyone wants to compare BK to Miles. I see a difference in that BK is more pragmatic and open to change. The problem with most people here is this demand that year 3 is the year. I don’t care if it takes him 5 years as long as he is building and moving forward. Saban went 8-5 in his 3rd year. Imagine if we had fired him. And anyone who hasn’t seen an improvement in the defense knows nothing about football. Still aren’t there talent wise but he’s killing it in the recruiting and will make coaching change when needed. And the same people bitching about Sloan taking the OC position would be the same people bitching about BK hiring someone else and maybe Sloan leaving along with Underwood and who knows who else. I’m willing to give Sloan a year to learn. And I’ll have faith that if Sloan doesn’t work out BK will be able to bring someone in who can. We will also have dual threat QB’s moving forward which will change the offensive philosophy.

He inherited a shite show that was always going to take time.

Matt House was a bust after a good first year.

2nd year transfer portal was a bust.

NIL/Transfer portal is a shite show.

It's too early to start firing coaches

My biggest issue is how it appears we are getting bullied by any team that we play. Win or lose it usually seems the other team is bringing the fight to us. Which is stark contrast to the lsu most of us are used to. At the same time we’re not very physical we’re also not disciplined. So there is some kind of disconnect in the coaching I assume. I miss the days where LSU punched you in the mouth and didn’t stop until the end of the game. Did we always win? No but the other team always knew it was gonna be hell for 4 quarters.

How can Baker build such an elite defense at Mizzou

Mizzou's defense was good but not exactly elite.

Also, he was at Mizzou for 3 seasons, he's been at LSU for 3 games.
