If you're embarrassed by a win for a bad LSU team, then life must be very difficult for you.

no, life is quite wonderful for me, in every respect.

I’m just rational enough to not get excited about a close win over a shitty team, when we pay our coaching staff an obscene amount of money, and we’re one year removed from a national championship.

How dare I expect more.

Yeah. I mean that's better than losing to two of the worst teams in the conference, right?

I'm not going to hammer you on this, but you DO have to understand- this isn't a normal season.

Yeah, we won a national title last season. We've lost the QB, RB, top 2 WRs, TE, and most of the starting O Line on offense; on defense we lost all the linebackers, most of the DL, and over half the secondary.

We lost our highly regarded defensive coordinator when he was hired by Baylor as HC, and replaced him with an outsider running a completely different scheme. We then lost spring and most of the summer, which is when that defense normally would have been implemented (at least to a functional level, where players have a decent understanding of the base concepts).

Our offense came out and performed fairly well, until our new starting QB got hurt 3 games into the season. Now we're starting 1 true freshman, ahead of another true freshman, in a QB-focused offense.

This was always going to be a rebuilding year, even before the Covid-related madness. That's just made things even worse (at least regarding current games). At this point, I suspect the season goal is to learn the defense and schemes, to be ready for 2021.

No this is not a “celebration” worthy game I’m not embarrassed either tho. I really don’t care.

nobody expected a championship this year, but this team is flat-out terrible. So much so that we lost to MSU, Mizos, got pounded by an average Auburn team, and now we’re celebrating a tight win over another SEC bottom dweller

Sorry Scoob, but none of that is acceptable, not even this year. And I refuse to make excuses for it.

There's a difference between "acceptable" and understandable.

In a normal season, I would have expected that the defense would be fairly simple this year, but generally competent. We'd have had spring, summer, and a few cupcakes to get the basics down, and BTW we'd also have guys who didn't declare for the draft (Vincent, Shelvin etc) on the field. We'd probably be looking at a 9-3 season, with the team peaking late and probably beating A&M in the finale. Likely lost to Bama, Florida, and one of Auburn/Texas.

The way it worked out, the defense started out WAY behind; Auburn is the only game you can truly say we should have lost (we scored over 30 in the other 2). If that D would just be average, we'd be 5-1. It doesn't have to be great, just average. 20-25 pts a game, and we're a Top 10 team.

The defense will be implemented over this year and next off-season, and I suspect the team will be ready. And people will forget about this miscarriage of a season, if we perform as expected. Stingley and Ricks will be a killer combo at corner.

It doesn't mean things aren't hard to watch now.

News flash: we’re also one of the worst teams in the conference this year. Stop expecting any different. At this point in the season we know who we are. It’ll improve next year and if it doesn’t heads will roll

Running a play on first down when you could take a few seconds and kneel it out was much worse.

Dude, grow a pair. We are in 2020 one of the worst teams in the SEC!

Be happy we beat Arky, for if they have their whole team maybe its a different outcome. Look, we dominated TOP but barely won. We are not good, so enjoy the wins when we get them

You are so miserable! And also a dumbass if you keep downplaying this win and bashing the coaches.

Sure the coaches and the team is bad because we lost 31-34 players from the best team ever to play.

What do you expect? At least I was happy for the win against a better Arkansas Team and one more important thing- The team did not quit on Coach O nor even quit on Pelini yet, which we all thought they did.

So frick you, and kudos to the coaches and players to keep this young, bad team playing hard, and getting a SEC West win!!

You already said this team isn't good. So why would you be pissed about a win not meeting arbitrary expectations?

You're not a better fan just because you "expect more".

We lost about 9 seconds because O didn't use a 2nd time out. We ran a draw from the 9 with 9 seconds to go and one time-out left.

I'm glad we ended up winning but wouldn't most coaches throw it in the endzone on that play?

Its pretty funny. When Les would butcher clock management situations, fans would say relax we still won. Then, of course, when it inevitably, finally directly cost us a game against Ole Miss, those same people saying calm down lost their minds. Same thing here. We saw the cluelessness in game management, not kicking the field goal to cut it to 7 against Miss State earlier this year. The clock management yesterday at the end of the 1st half was inept. Taking a shotgun snap and handing the ball off at the end of the game in sloppy conditions when all you had to do was take knees is, quite simply, coaching malpractice. But most fans will excuse that kind of incompetence because we still won. Its always the same.
