Believing any coach in the middle of the season is retarded.

LSU is easily a better spot than ole miss. If we offered him he would crawl here

My somewhat plugged in Ole Miss friend says they are scrambling to put together a 120m 10 year deal for Lane right now.

In the State of Mississippi, a contract for services provided to an entity of the State cannot exceed a term of 5 years. However, a services contract with the State of Mississippi can be extended/renewed for a period of 1 year if certain conditions clearly delineated within the contract are met.

Therefore, he will not be offered a 10 year contract by an entity of the State of Mississippi.

I think most of us pretty much knew that. I think Lane Kiffin would have been a good hire for LSU but he isn't the only good coach in college football. Eliminating Saban also which was ridiculous IMO to begin with...the guy is 73 years old and left coaching because of the transfer portal and NIL. Those two factors in college football are only getting more extreme every year.

I think he likely stays at Ole Miss, but you're stating an opinion as fact. Nobody knows how this ends, probably not even Kiffin at this point.

Lea at Vandy or Key at Georgia Tech

If these are the types of guys you're looking at then yea you better hope we get Kiffin. If you broaden your mind a little bit and look deeper then you'll be hoping we don't get kiffin. There are so many better options if we can look beyond the surface

Vanderbilt’s recruiting is trending upwards, but they’re still about the same talent level as Kentucky or Mississippi state overall. The reason Vanderbilt has won the games they have, and were competitive against bama and Texas, is because they invariably show up as the team that is much more disciplined and much better coached top to bottom. Put another way, they haven’t played a game this year where they didnt have a significant advantage in terms of coaching.

Pavia certainly adds some juice but if you swap him out with Sellers at South Carolina I don’t think south Carolina’s record is much different. Point is, Lea is the “secret ingredient” for Vanderbilt, not Pavia.

It’s almost impossible to hire a HC coach who’s team made the playoffs. Just the timeline alone makes the hiring school suffer from not having a coach to recruit players.

Joe Brady hasnt won shite in the NFL as an offensive cooordinator
.
I'm not promoting Brady at all for HC. Having said that, you statement about him as OC in the NFL is way off the mark.

"This new approach helped Buffalo win six of their final seven games to finish with an 11–6 record and their fourth consecutive AFC East title.

The Bills promoted Brady to full-time offensive coordinator following the season. Brady further refined his philosophy from the previous year, which he dubbed "Everybody Eats," resulting in a league-record 13 offensive players scored receiving touchdowns en route to the Bills' 13–4 record and an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2024. He was named a finalist for the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year Award that year, coming in fourth place."

Sexton let the Landry know last week he could kick rocks and what he could do with his incentive contract talks.

If one picture could describe last week it would be.

How about Nick Saban retiring the day after signing day two years ago? All those kids got completely blindsided. They fill those recruits with lies, lies, lies so you can keep them committed with a potential coaching change. It’s the nature of the beast, unfortunately

Because he isn't a fool. He's in a market that includes LSU, Florida, and Auburn who are desperate for a championship level coach. His current employer desperately doesn't want to lose him. So even if the plan all along is to stay at Ole Miss, why not send out "signals" to the market to try to drive the bidding war. i.e leak you are staying at Ole Miss to get one, two, or all of LSU, Florida, Auburn to throw out a big number to increase the bidding.

If he plays this well, Kiffin is going to be the highest paid HC in the country.

Can you blame him. Oxford is a college town full of support. Win or lose, and stadium is packed until the end of games.
