If you are going to pitch skenes, it makes zero sense to not start him

I know that's probably the right call but man I was hoping he would start.

Wtf is with everyone posting random crap that would be major news this morning & not linking or even vaguely referencing where they got the info…

So far we have Skenes coming in the 7th if we have a lead + Cooper unavailable today.

And no sources lol.
FWIW I don’t see anything on the web.

Then it will be lights out for LSU. He has to start and give us 3-4 to keep the score down in hopes our bats wake up.

If he's going to throw 120 pitches, sure

But if he is limited to a bullpen between starts, you get 40 or so bullets

You really want to use them the first time through our lineup? Our hitters are more likely to look like they did against WF the last time than they did even yesterday.

FL stays close with Skenes on the mound waiting for the big momentum boost when we have to pull him. I would rather have waiting in the wings ever present on their minds

Skenes knows the score, let him make the decision.

How many MLB pitchers from the 60s have started a game on short rest and then came in in relief on short rest as well?

I need to know so I can start a completely useless thread comparing the 2.

You need to get through 9 innings. If he is limited, you make those innings the first innings with skenes. It’s a no brainer

Yeah, i don't think an hour and a half is going to make a difference in recovery time.

It’s gonna be lights out from the first pitch, when Skenes blows one by at 99

I agree. If you are willing to pitch him. Let him go through his starting routine and you start him.

Just unfounded speculation on your part.

Doug Thompson said it on Jordy Culotta this morning FYI for anyone wondering where this came from. And to be fair that is 100% a good decision. If Jay and Paul elect for him to start the game then that is also a smart decision but again off short rest having him come out of the bullpen to close out the game is a good decision.

It absolutely isn't the right call. He starts or nothing.
