This was entirely predictable when the original four team playoff was created, just like NIL turning into a total shite show was predictable.

Yet people cheered loudly for both.

The outrage when teams 25 and 26 get left out

So now a team with 3-4 losses at the end of the year has the same opportunity to win it all as a team that went undefeated? This is getting like the NBA/MLB and be a sub500 team and still win it all

Basically. It will devalue the regular season. Just like college basketball has. All anyone will care about or remember is how you did in the tourney at the end of the year

Imagine the number of opt outs from draft hopefuls in a season that runs this long.

They’re acting like the wear and tear / injury risk of football is comparable to basketball.

How many times is the NCAA going to shoot itself in the face? What face is there even left to shoot

This is going to fricking blow.

We’ll always have 2019.

And yeah we are never missing the playoffs again as long as we have Lane

Go to 24 teams, and a BCS style ranking, computer plus a polls. Basically your ranked you go, no G5 Bullshite. Do away with the bowls. Everyone needs to be playing for something in the post season.

Is anybody going to care after the novelty wears off in a few years? All this does is promote mediocrity, the product will deteriorate because of this.

This is another frick up to make up for the frick up of going to 9 SEC games. 9 SEC games and an SECCG for only 12 teams will be absolutely brutal for however many years we have it.

It was always going to move to a 24 team playoff. FCS level has been at 24 for almost 15 years

They can’t expand beyond 24, there’s not even enough teams to do that. Baseball and basketball have 330 schools or thereabout. There’s barely over a third of that at FBS level

It's just further ruination of what used to be the premier college sport. At least we have our memories of how it used to be--amateur (student) players, the band providing all the music, regular season and conference championship meaning something. All gone now.

I disagree, if anything it makes the regular season more interesting. LSU has a one loss margin with the current 12 team playoff, which is a tall order with remaining schedule strength. With 24 teams they could lose 2 maybe 3 and still make. Way more interesting.

I blame Mel Kuyper. He was among the first and loudest beating the drum to make college football like the NFL.

I guess I’m the only one that don’t mind this. I love playoff games, no matter what sport. The more meaningful games the better.

Yeah I can’t wait for 4-loss teams lobbying for playoff spots & inevitable rematches.

Sounds awesome…….

I don’t understand how there are fans of this sport who don’t realize the fact the stakes are high throughout the year is what made this sport uniquely exciting.

You think teams like ND and Michigan schedule their way into the playoff now? They will literally never miss the field even if they are the 60th talented team in CFB lmao.

That is saying nothing of the logistic issues… this might be such a clusterfrick that they walk it back after 4 years. I’m not kidding.

We need to drop the 9th SEC game before a cupcake. Whoever voted for that is just worried about money.

Put into practice this year, there would be next to no drama in LSU’s remaining schedule and it’s a really hard schedule.

The current playoff format is perfect! Their expansion proposal is absurd. Almost as absurd is the number of bowl games. There was a time when a team going to a bowl game was an achievement. Nowadays, all you need is a 0.500 record. What a joke.
