Make it 32 and eliminate all bowl games all together. If you dont make top 32, you dont play.
Playoffs are way more interesting than meanless bowl games.
Anyone who hates a larger playoff system is basically saying allowing 50 teams playing in all these whack bowl games is OK? 32 teams in and thats it

It'll definitely be more like the NFL. As in, you'll see teams that are a lock for the playoffs essentially rest their starters the last game or two. Arkansas might actually beat us. But who cares. We'll be in.

LSU has a one loss margin with the current 12 team playoff, which is a tall order with remaining schedule strength. With 24 teams they could lose 2 maybe 3 and still make. Way more interesting.
so you straight up point out that we go from every game being a “must win” to “ehh, we could drop a couple”.
that’s the very definition of devaluing the regular season.

It's already like that. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been watching the past 5 years or so.

Is it deliberate to destroy the institution of division one football? Some one has to apply some rationale and apply the foot brake.

My idea makes sense.
32 teams in playoffs not 60 teams in meanless non interesting bowl games.
32 teams cuts down on the amount of participation trophies getting into the 'pornstar cheetos potato bowl'

The beauty about college football was the games were important. They are making it where you will make the playoffs with 3 and 4 losses.

Lsu win it in 07 with 2 loses
A 3 loss team against tough opponents can make a run late and go deep in the playoffs...jmo

This is ridiculous. The parity isn't there in college to expand to 24. Maybe it gets there one day. A #24 may beat the #1 team in Sept, but by Nov we know the difference between 1 and 24 is 30+ points.
The best and worst NFL teams may be 10-14 points.
12 teams is the right number. No one outside of that is beating a #1 except in very off years.

no, we’re saying there ain’t 32 teams worthy of a title shot.
i don’t give a shite if they play in some obscure bowl game or stay home.
i don’t want to see them in the playoffs.

It doesnt matter. A playoff win has significantly more prestige and money implications for a lesser school. Many of the 20 thru 32 wont most likely win it but to make it one or two rounds does alot for a program. Many good teams can get knocked off. This has happened several times during the season every year. Id rather watch a playoff game than a stupid bowl game. Playoff game means you advance. A bowl game means nothing.

The only positive things about this:
Postseason home games and then elevating the good bowl games.
Getting rid of that stupid conference championship game which has unfairly hurt and helped teams in the past. It once was meaningful; now, it’s just cash.
This will destroy the rest of the bowl system. That NY Day 6 crap will be dumped.
24 teams is too many. 16 is okay.
But One of the most important things about college football is that it was never meant to be like other sports. Rarely in the old days did you have the two best teams meet in the same bowl game, and if you did happen to get lucky and have that, it was special. Before all the BCS. For whatever reason, the 1997 season where Michigan and Nebraska didn’t get to play made people angry. We are where we are because of that. Fanfare and polls mattered.

This Playoff system has a ruling committee that wants to run football or something else?
Posted on 9/30/26 at 7:44 pm to themunch
This is the same committee that took the 'playoff' spot away for an injured qb. I cant wait for this thing that is coming.

It’s becoming that way, it has not come to full fruition.

At that point, who the frick cares about the regular season? You only have to go 8-4 (5-4 SEC) to make it.

We need to drop the 9th SEC game before a cupcake. Whoever voted for that is just worried about money.
Do you not realize that the 9th game was at the request of the execs at ABC. Just look at the announcements yesterday about SEC viewership in the month of September. Of course its about the money.
