Also Tony V ain’t doing so hot
God I love this place. Tony V's record is 2-3 and has 157 games left in the season

That is definitely a financial support message
100%. It's no coincidence to me that this comes out after they announced the other day that the revenue sharing won't be changing next year.

Jay ain’t going anywhere. Dude has the keys to a Bugatti and knows how to drive.
With the way college athletics is going he basically has all the headaches of a major league team plus still has to recruit and fundraise.

I don’t think yall realize how lucky we are the giants targeted Tony and not Jay. He is a big Giants fan and we probably lose him to that job.
Now I think this quote is him being calculated and putting pressure on lsu to get him the money he needs to be successful.

I just can't imagine him not recruiting.

He's clearly not satisfied with LSU's commitment to being the best program in college baseball.
Sounds like he's in his feelings about Kiffin and Wade getting theirs. The reality is revenue share percentages are based on what the programs bring in and baseball will never bring in big dollars. So he or someone in the AD better figure out more legitimate NIL deals or other revenue streams for the program.

that's coach speak for "I'm about to start packing my stuff"

He’s competitive and he’s already won two natties here. It’s the human nature to start looking for what’s next.
If Tony V gets the Giants to the postseason, I could see a small or mid market club going after Jay to try to get an early jump on the college frenzy. It would be hard for him to say no.

The big threat, IMO, would be the As ahead of their move to Las Vegas.

We need the billionaires to start putting money into baseball.

This is not reality at all.

Not sure how anyone can downvote this sentiment. Excluding baseball from a rational distribution scheme is ridiculous.

It’s 5 games into the mlb season

They targeted Tony because he had been cultivating a relationship with Buster Posey for close to a year by the time the job came open. There was already familiarity there. They weren't just looking for a college coach.

A far cry from him saying he'd rather coach at LSU than be the Yankees manager.
Maybe he’s a Sox fan

If CJJ wanted to go to the MLB, I would be very happy for him. He will be an LSU legend forever. I hope he stays here for another 20 years and rivals Skip for GOAT.

I agree with most of you above - this is a message.
Can't understand the percent share where Jay has to get some part of 5% with track, gymnastics, etc. He sells out the Box & if they add more seats, expecially suites, he would sell those out too. I know there is only so much $ in the $20.5M pot, but I look at LSU as a football than baseball sports school.

Jay is now competing with Kiffin, Mulkey and Wade for a share of the resource pool.
My prediction is that he will be leveraging the A&M job this offseason to secure his fair share. He won't have any intention of taking it, but he'll entertain them long enough to get what he wants.
