Sloan wasn’t in the top three issues on O.

O Line
Run scheme with Nuss as QB. (Most likely a Kelly Playbook issue)
Nuss’ decision making in some games. (Nuss’ greatest strength and drawback is he is overly aggressive when passing)

And Vandy, OU, and South Florida did? They held Milroe to less than 2 ypc.

Obviously yes.

They don't have the weak links at safety that LSU does thus Bama didn't attack them the same way.

Most of Milroe's runs in those games were scrambles out of passing plays.

And while they did bottle Milroe up, Vandy and South Florida just gave the yardage up in other ways.

How?

Sloan is a good QB coach and bad play caller. It is okay to admit that.

Impossible for a message board poster to say that with any type of certainty.

One of the biggest issues all season was our injury list. Capable players missed most of the season— namely Guillory, Perkins, Jones, Parker, and Hilton. Others had lingering things (Daniels, Durham) and Dellinger’s injury plus our inability to get play out of our center turned the IOL into a turnstile.

Those who follow the Tigers have to be happy with the improvement of the defense particularly without help in at rhe safety level.

Baker is earning his check. Sloan- TBD.

Personally I think we’re good/set at coordinators. Glad we’re returning both and returning an experienced QB in 2025… should, repeat should, be a good year for us.

Need to take the next step on defense and field a Top30ish defense and need to get more efficient and balanced on offense

I’m really excited about 2025. It feels to me that the pieces are in place for a run.

the only gripes with sloan should be

1) RZ offense
2) lack of running game
3) predictable with pass on 1st, run on 2nd. it was over 90% of the time at the half way mark of the season, was really really bad

but overall i thought both did fine

Delusional fans don't realize our defense was bad all year

fricking idiots don’t realize Baker had LSU up 50 spots better than last year. He did the same thing at Missouri. Cut the defense’s position from the 100s to 50s the first year. Tremendously better the 2nd year. You’re a clown.

Sloan just needs a running game to work with. He'll be fine. He wasn't working with the caliber of receivers as the years prior, either.

Baker improved a horrible defense from the year prior without two leaders for almost the whole season. 56 honestly was about the best you could seriously hope for. He was never going to field a top 25 defense with the holes we still had on defense.

Keep them both. They'll do just fine. I know people hate Sloan for some reason, but some of the same people wanted Jayden Daniels benched for two seasons.

Yeah, this is where I'm at too.

I think Sloan's going to be fine. He had to replace the Heisman winner, who's going to win NFL Rookie of the Year. Also had to replace two 1st rd WRs, who are both over 1k yds as rookies. Not incidentally, he also had to replace our leading RB, who decided to hit the portal.

So this year you have Nuss, a 1st year starter with a strong arm. Going into the bowl he has 3700 yds passing with 26 TD and 11 int. If he plays well in the bowl he's going to have 4k yds. That ain't bad at all.
At WR, we had a dropoff... and it didn't seem to matter that much. We had 3 guys over 50 catches (includes Taylor at TE, which is impressive for college scheme).

At RB, ... you have to fit the scheme. Durham emerged and got 700 yds rushing, which is more than Diggs had last year. Same average (5.5 a carry).
And he did that despite having his toes dislocated midseason.

We made a big deal out of the OL supposedly being so good, but honestly- we had good tackle play on pass protection. Tackles on the runs were meh, and the interior OL was subpar most of the season.
I think the OL will be overall better next year.

With a more experienced Nuss, a healthy Durham whose role is established, and a competent WR group, we're going to be very good next year offensively.

OK if Sloan wants a running game, then design one that is less predictable and gives the Oline a chance to block other than zone blocking. Not only were Sloan's calls predictable, they were often head slapping under the situation. I think he and LSU can do a whole lot better, if they just get out of this rut they have been in since BK's arrival. So, I lay that at his feet to make the necessary changes, and I think it begins with plays design, where I think LSU lags terribly behind the more successful innovation offenses.

Just curious, how many Fr have put up #s like his in the history of CFB?

The statement was pure hyperbole & if you thought it was real then you understand why there is some truth to it.

His counting stats were good because led the nation in passing attempts. He especially had crazy stat padding games vs bad teams Nicholls, UCLA Vandy & Okla

In 8 SEC games

59%
13td
8 INT

He had a 4 game stretch mid season where he threw:

97-177 (54%)
6 TD
7 INT

Lol

In just about every important efficiency metric among SEC QBs, he was 8th or 9th. No one cares about counting stats when you aren’t efficient. And he wasn’t

Lester never change with your horrible takes.

Nuss looked like a freshman?

He improved the defense 50 something spots in total rankings without having 1 NFL caliber DB

Are you really that dumb to think we were gonna have some type of top 10 total defense with sage Ryan and major burns starting?

That's with Chase and Jefferson the 2 best WRs in the NFL, by a wide margin. LSU was also middle of the pack rushing vs dead last this season.

Nuss definitely needs to improve his decision making. No doubt. He also needs a better run game, a deep threat at WR and better play calling by Sloan to help him out. He should have some help at WR next season. Let's see what Sloan and the run game can do.

Offense was decent and Def was bad again. 8-4 record is about right.
We are not good and far from elite. We are middle of the pack. we can't even keep the best players in the state.

lol u are out of ur fricking mind. LSU has never had a defensive coordinator that could make 2nd half adjustments like aransas did. People forget. Sonetines a guy can lose a little shine when they are a head coach but when he only has to run a defense, there’s no one better imo.

Don't you also think Nuss will run more next yea? He's not JD but a pretty good runner. I believe if he averages 4 - 6 runs per game it will definitely help the running game. Nothing earth shattering but the linebackers and defensive ends will have to hesitate a fraction of a second and that will help. You know, get that 3 - 5 yards on third and then slide. We also have some pretty good guards and a good center coming for the run game.
I think we can be quite a bit better next year. Playoffs are a must. 8/4 is absolutely unacceptable.
