So in this NIL day and age is being a member of a certain conference necessary?

ND is different. I do not think Independent is a good way to go.

If LSU has the backing financially or let's say a Texas Tech. Does it matter which conference your in?

Why are the players on LSU roster at LSU. Some are there because of coach. Some for money. A small percentage are there because the love LSU and nothing else matters.

Do you think this same roster would be at LSU if they had the same coach and were in another conference?

If the money is the same then it would not matter.

TT has all the money in the world, but is still kind of stuck in the 10-15 rankings. Playing an SEC schedule and having more eyeballs matters.

Every school is different. Texas Tech isn't analogous to LSU.

The SEC will try to get the other big conferences to not schedule LSU.

If this vote happens, they are trying to destroy LSU.

It all boils down to negotiating for TV contracts and the advantage of offering multiple appealing programs t for them to televise.

It's not about the recruiting as much as it's about the money.

Big Ten
Total Payout: $1.47 Billion
Per Team: $76.1 Million – $79.9 Million

SEC
Total Payout: $1.11 Billion
Per Team: $72.4 Million

ACC
Total Payout: $826.5 Million
Per Team: $47.1 Million

Big 12
Total Payout $610.9 Million
Per Team: $39.5 Million

The LSU athletic department has a lot of expenses. It needs the money.

NOPE, probably not. Maybe some TV rights but not sure that is even necessary.

The SEC started getting wobbly with the addition of A&M and Mizzou. Bringing Texas and Oklahoma was the death knell for any hope of being a cohesive conference. Fourteen teams was difficult to balance and sixteen teams in the same conference is undoubtedly too many. Birmingham got greedy for more revenue without any anticipation of the logistics involved in just creating schedules and establishing a black and white path to determine the conference champion.

This kerfuffle is simply a symptom of the illness that has infected Birmingham.

That would be one huge lawsuit incoming.

The sec has less teams than the big 10 or 12 I’m pretty sure. Maybe even the acc.

It’d be back door deals and the like. Basically impossible to prove.

That would involve way too many people to enact and remain silent. They could try, but that is a huge scope.
