He was the backup this year. Jayden exited four games with injury this year.

That’s just dumb.

If he didn’t start this year, he could have redshirted this year and have all options on the table.

He could use the Georgia game as a springboard to win the starting job next year and also start in 24 and then go pro as a RS Jr.

Nobody know really,

Joe Burrow. Understand now?

The redshirt will only be a factor if he transfers. So for him, sure, the right choice. For the record, I couldn’t care less that he or anyone else sat out that game and I’m not trying to knock him for that

Absolutely without that we never would have gotten the Jontre Kirkland experience. Also the last play of that game amazing.

He could've been the starter from week 1 if he had a big game last year. Or he couldve redshirted this year and played in the game last year since he only played in 4 games this year plus 1 pass vs A&M. Could've easily had Howard throw that 1 pass and redshirted both of them

Would have liked to see more loyalty to the letters on his helmet than the letters on his back.

See Travis Daniels’ quote following his redshirt burning performance in helping LSU win the 2001 SECCG game over UThug.

That’s easily said now knowing JD transferred and did well this season. There was no way to know that would happen Dec 2021

The entire premise of the OP is hindsight. I’m not suggesting Nuss should have made a different decision based on what we know in hindsight. I’m saying that Nuss redshirting last year is of no benefit now. I’m not glad he did or agreeing that it worked out in the long run because it didn’t. At this moment in time my perspective doesn’t change. He could have played the bowl and had the same remaining eligibility with no negative impact on this season.

He didn’t have to play against UAB or A&M. If he had a redshirt available, he likely would not have.

Put me in coach. My job is to win. Give me the keys and I’m gonna ball out. I ain’t sitting on the sidelines for nothing…..

Had he balled out, maybe BK doesn’t bring Daniels in.

know Nuss admirably framed it as his and his family’s decision, but I have zero doubt Kelly and Woodward told him “you ain’t burnin your redshirt on this game.”
I could absolutely see this

If there was a point in RSing for howard, why wouldn't we expect Kelly wanted to hold on to Nuss' redshirt as well?

For a glorified scrimmage game
