He’s barely 24 years old, lol. His velocity shouldn’t be falling off yet.

It's the majors, there are literally 29 teams of analyst studying his every move and metric humanly possible. They know every percentage and tendency he has had for the last 10 years and are feeding all that data to the people that have to face him. It happens to every pitcher, he will be fine.

It's more than that. His velocity is noticeably down. Something's changed independent of how other teams are approaching him.

We really need a Tigers in the Pros Board where we can have topics about former Tigers and keep the Rant about current LSU topics. Just a thought

You know we don’t “really need” yet another board for that.

This boards disdain for livvy makes me think we have way more homosexuals on this board than we realized.

No doubt. Anybody that actually watches him pitch and knows anything about pitching/baseball can see the difference. His command is what's hurting hinm the most. Walking too many but also leaving too many balls over the heart of the plate. Also just not getting the same snap on his slider which was a virtually automatic wipeout pitch his firtst two years.

Even Sandy Koufax struggled at the beginning of his career. More than Skenes.

It is almost impossible to sustain a 98mph avg FB over many years as a starter. Don't care who you are or how old you are. Naturally it will fall off. Your statement is wrong.

He’s gotten smart. Taken advice from others and wants to have a long career with chances of championships.

Quite honestly, I first noticed in the WBC. The results in that game I would say were fine, not great. But what struck me is that Mexico had a lot of free swinging dudes and he had very little swing and miss that game. That surprised me.

Also, his numbers third time through are horrendous this year. Velocity is down as it's been stated but as you indicate some other factors are at play.

I wish it was as simple as "he'll be fine" but we don't know that. There may be fatigue, maybe an undiagnosed injury, or maybe there is an adjustment he needs to make - only time will tell.

Or he can’t average 98mph on his fastball over multiple years like most mortals. It’s impossible to throw every pitch at max effort and think that is sustainable

Seems like his average velo is down a few ticks and 1-2 mph vs the best hitters in the world is huge
