I'm an a-hole for pointing out that you didn't comprehend what you read?
Have you read the contracts? Do you really think that the contract doesn't have some sort of force majeure provision that provides flexibility for the schools? Are you under the impression that ESPN can just tell the schools to go play at "x", and that's it?
The poster said that "they have no say". In an attempt to defend his statement, you provided a quote, which expressly stated "with input from the schools".
I can't help your reading comprehension skills. but keep trying. We learn through our mistakes. Don't be so quick to call someone as a-hole for trying to help you out.

Speaking of the force majeure clauses in these contracts, I wonder if the legal team has been giving that language a once-over in light of recent events. Like we should just always be anticipating this shite and make sure both parties understand the contingency.

That's a good point. Perhaps you should send them a note and suggest that.

Bs. The rant has spoken. If most of the posters were the ad, this decision would have already been made, and final details wrapped up. Alleva has been playing Xbox while all of this was going on. He should be fired.

My take: I think it likely that a final decision has not yet been made. I imagine that the possible venues were contacted over the weekend to assess viability. I think the Superdome is the leading candidate, but given the uncertainty around Harvey's track later this week it wasn't prudent to make the call yesterday. They wanted one more night of models to see where it is likely Harvey would go. With the overnight models showbig increased potential for high rainfall in NOLA I would not be surprised to see the game moved to a venue that is not the Superdome.
I know nothing, this is just what I think is likely to be happening based on the rumors we've seen here about the dome, the lack of announcement or really any firm leaks, and the continuing uncertainty regarding Harvey.

Your take is both reasonable and plausible. Get that shite out of this thread.

The storm tracked east, yes, but it's still very hard to know what kind of rain totals we can expect in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Lots of uncertainty still. If they can wait another day before they make this decision, then they need to do that.

he smallest of breaks what the hell are you on? 50 inches is a small break? Catastrophic flooding is a small break? Get a fricking clue dude
You need to get a clue if you actually thought that's what I meant.
The smallest of breaks in that the storm was tracking more east than they originally thought. Hence "the smallest" of breaks.

One of the many, many scenarios that could occur according to this model's data is 22 inches of rain just east of New Orleans. The exact location should be taken with a grain of salt. The point is those type of totals are possible in the general area. But again, this is just one of what is essentially an infinite amount of scenarios.
Again, it is pretty unlikely that New Orleans sees extreme rain totals. However, people that live in areas prone to flooding should be very aware of what is going on as the outer part of this storm makes it way into Louisiana.
My source for all of this is the big weather thread on the OT, and I am basically directly quoting them.

I'd imagine they won't make the call until tonight. Even with the slight change east I'd be surprised if the spot is not NOLA.

It's just too far out to make any decision today that is not irresponsible.
Tonight at the earliest, but more likely tomorrow. We should have a substantially better idea of the storm's track and likely rainfall totals in the next 24-30 hours.
Once this storm goes back into the golf, it's anyone's guess if it'll make it far enough to even make landfall in Louisiana. Not out of the realm of possibilities.

That rainfall total to the east of NOLA was a typo. It should be 2.55. The game will be in the dome. Remnants of storm will be around Dallas Friday. The dome is the logical choice.

I asked the same question to the people in the OT thread and was told it was not a type-o, just one of the many scenarios the models have spit out.
It is not a forecast.

No thanks on Nola. Trading one flood zone for potentially another one.

Hate to say it but Provo seems like the only viable solution
