The Box needs some updates, but it’s also easy to dress up a small stadium that seats less than 8,000 and stared out as an over glorified HS setup.

I’m not saying LSU should do it, but lawn chairs are more comfortable than bleachers…

Not if you bring one of those seats that hook into the bleachers.

The box is a great ballpark, a lot o LSU fans hate everything LSU does and has.If you are not criticizing and negative you are not happy.Louisiana is full of negative backwoods thinking like,Nick Saban said catastrophe syndrome is alive and well

Name me 8 better SEC ballparks.

The only thing making this close to not being bottom half is the addition of UT and OU. Finally expansion helps LSU out

1. Baum Walker
2. Dudy Noble
3. Swayze
4. Bluebell Park
5. Founders
6. Lindsey Nelson
7. Plainsman Park
8. Floridas new park

If we’re strictly talking looks nicer and we ignore capacity then you can go ahead and add Vandy’s park to that list too.

According to their website not in permanent seating.

Official capacity is now 6300. Not sure why the website hasn't been updated.

Announcers sucked.

Umpires were terrible.

Concessions sucked.

Think that about covers it.

I agree totally. Was there on Saturday. The walkup songs are enough and the organ music gave it a traditional baseball feel

That left field wall is hot garbage. Puts it at the bottom of the conference with Vandy for me.

They need to hire someone to hang some lights in that place. Looks dark as a dungeon there every time we play there.

The Box was dated the day it opened up. Almost every school has updated their stadiums since the ABS was built and the only renovations LSU has made is adding a couple of suites that weren’t finished when the 09 season started and moving the bullpens.

LSU (and the state) continually fail when it comes to facilities projects. You get what you pay for when you spend less than $40m and bring over bleachers from the original stadium.

Right it is not bottom half.

Then consider official seating numbers and not the “look”.
quote:

1. Baum Walker 10,737 (11,742)
2. Dudy Noble 7,200 (4,326 chairbacks, 180 sky boxes, 2,700 bleacher) ( record 14,491)
3. Swayze 11,477 (10,095)
4. Bluebell Park 6,100 (8,075) 24 million 2012
5. Founders 6,600 seated (8,242) 35 million dollars in 2009
6. Lindsey Nelson 6,298 (6,506) being renovated
7. Plainsman Park 7,000 (8,851) $65 million
8. Floridas new park 7,000 (8,851) 65 million

Alex Box 10,336 (4,054 grandstand under roof, 6,272 bleachers, 27 suites) record 13,068)

Criticize the look, the food, whatever; however, The Box can put more butts in the seats than all but two stadiums and that should count for something.

Again, the complain about everything no matter what rabble miss the fact that it is much cheaper and easier to upgrade these tiny little stadiums that several SEC programs have. That doesn’t mean LSU shouldn’t be doing more, but recognize that it’s going to cost a lot more and have a bigger impact on operations than a facelift and adding a relatively small number of seats to a high wall.

Simply put- when you have a stadium as large as the Box that you fill well and generates revenue, a cosmetic upgrade is a want, not a need. The department has some real needs right now that I’m sure are higher on the list than this.

Pump sunshine all you want. Skip got the Box built on the cheap, and now it needs MAJOR upgrades to bring up to match, or exceed the newer standards.

Alex box is a shithole with terrible fan experience and awful amenities. High School Bleachers nothing that stands out except a Lamar signs billboard

No, but it was built a few years ahead of everyone else in the SEC giving a shite about baseball and the much larger amount of TV money that’s been flowing into all sports. It was built to the expectations of the time, and even on a budget then.
