I’m curious as to who were the top transfers from last year that came to the SEC and panned out and actually lived up to the hype. What if Jay can’t get any top end transfers. It’s not guaranteed. You can’t have another year like this though that’s for sure. It’s not that hard to make the field of 64 in the SEC
Well, I don't think he'll get anymore traction on the veiled threats to go to the MLB or the ranting to Coaches Committee members about funding....in fact that started to lose traction this year.
He'll have to find a way outside of what he tried last year. I think he will.

If yall think it’s just a 30 day head start you are crazy. Over the course of the season with how in the mix agents are I am sure he has been rolling for quite some time. Money squared up and ready.

I wonder if Sheerin signs a pro deal? I could see him being a pick in the top 6-7 rounds. Would the money be enough to go?

I wonder if any college baseball teams will consider going the international route?

There are Japanese players coming over in very limited instances. Most are going to JUCOs on the west coast first, but a couple notable ones have gone straight to division 1.
There are also some JUCOs that load up on european guys, and some that load up on canadians.
Caribbean players are always going to go the pro route first unless they move to the states for HS.
So basically, not really.

Silver lining: Jay as a 30-day head start
I don't really feel like there's a silver lining in all of this. If anything, Jay is under the microscope now because he really blundered this season. LSU Baseball should never have a season this poorly and it's all on Jay and his staff.
Another year like this and Jay will be out of a job, regardless of his two recent titles. The downside of being one of the few schools that cares about baseball.

I do think there were comments and behind the scenes threats from Jay early in the year that did not age well with some of the fan base. He will be expected to get this corrected this coming season as this is LSU. There was another popular coach who was fired two years after a national title - so don't think it can't happen.
I sure hope it doesn't by the way and I think he's a better coach in all aspects then the that other popular coach, so I think he'll find his way back.

I do remember Jay talking last year how difficult it was recruiting while playing in the CWS, reminder how poorly structured the transfer portal windows are with baseball.

I can see it being hard bc guys are in other campuses with potential deadlines but you would think winning the national championship and a dollar offer would do a big portion of the recruiting for you.

None of those can happen in the middle of the CWS when you have no clue what your roster will be like next year and 99% of other teams can lock in guys because they know what they need and where to spend.

Losing guys to the draft seems even more problematic at that time

O may have given us 2019, but that's it. He wasn't very good before that season, and he wasn't good after. In fact, when he was hired, he probably had the worst resume of any head football coach we had ever hired. And since he was fired here, he was basically begging for work, and no one would hire him.
Jay took Arizona to the CWS and has won TWO CWS in the last four years. Jay won't get fired here even if he shits the bed again next year. But if he did, he'd have schools lining up to hire him.
Comparing O and Jay is outright dumb and assinine.

quote:Yall are dumb to even make this comparison because that popular coach you speak of had no prior success before LSU as a HC, and never won multiple national championships with pretty much a completely different roster.

It’s not anymore. The draft has become less and less of a disrupter. Kids and MLB orgs know what it’ll take to sign kids before they even draft them.
