How bout letting people play wherever the frick they want to play?
If you had no restrictions, you'd have playing jumping teams every year.
Great for the players, but horribly destructive for the overall game of college football.

It’s also not the military.
You do understand the difference, right???

Wouldn’t that be between them and the company paying them for NIL?

How about something conditional.
If you transfer before your third season at a program you have to sit a year. After that you dont have to sit, but can only do it once.
Outside of that I would include exceptions, and these would apply even if someone had previously transfered.
No sitting between divisions FCS, JUCO, etc.
No sitting for graduate transfers.
No sitting if leaving a program during the year that they lose/fire/retire the Head coach.
No sitting if transfering in the year a program gets a bowl ban or other major sanctions.
Also with NIL, I think eligibility needs to be revisited.
First NIL or something like it had to happen.
Anyway, with the MLB draft, if a player does not get picked high enough or does not get an offer they like they can return to college.
I am not sure what the barriers would be in Football(and basketball), but having the same ability to return and imorove their stock would be good IMO.

but its OK if a coach leaves a multi-million dollar job for another multi-million dollar job whenever he pleases

Why? Because you don't like it?

I’d have the old rules with one exception and that is head coach change.
The problem with the old rules is the same problem the NCAA has with everything, and that's selective enforcement.
Justin Fields was granted a waiver because frat boys at Georgia said racist things to him.
Meanwhile, you have a kid in Virginia that wanted to transfer to be closer to home because his mother got cancer. His request was denied because his hometown was 5 miles outside the pre-approved radius and his mother's condition had improved "too much."

Scholarships are on a year to year basis. Schools and coaches don't make a 4-year commitment to players, so why should players have to make that commitment to the school?
Bingo, and they get processed out all the time, but should be penalized for that process.

Can you expound on this? What are the exact reasons why a school and coach shouldn't have to commit to a player for more than 1 year, but players should have to make that commitment? A school will drop a player's scholarship without even blinking an eye just because someone new is taking his spot. A coach can decide he wants to leave a school in the middle of a season for more money or a step up in his career and it's all gravy. Why do you think a player shouldn't be able to leave a school and go to another school without being heavily penalized?

You mean a college scholarship isn’t exactly the same as joining the military?
Shock.
Shock.

Maybe if you transfer before your sophomore year but no sitting for Juniors/seniors.
Posted on 12/15/21 at 2:34 pm to 0x15E
Absolutely and also make these NIL deals like a contract, where if you get a deal, you have to stay at that school until you are draft eligible.

Yes
If I’m not mistaken it was started because of the Fauci flue.
Should be stopped now.
