The race thing is off, but yeah I think the more famous players do get a better deal. I mean do you honestly think Phelps and Lochte were always clean? And this year, with the NBA players...the NBA stopped testing for weed. There is no way they're all clean either.

It's bullshite. She should be able to run for the same reason NC State should have been allowed to play. A nonsensical rule being followed just for the sake of it being a rule is pointless.

except she voluntarily broke the rule.

just like i chose to do 20 mph over the limit in Lake Charles.
me thinking a 50mph speed limit on I-10 is stupid doesn’t give me permission to just break it without penalty.

both rules are stupid.
both have their consequences.

always?
no, of course not.

clean during the time when testing was going to take place (that they knew ahead of time was coming)?
probably

Jesus frick you people are intolerable.

Nobody, including Sha’Carri herself is denying breaking the rules. The point it, she is serving a 30 day suspension FOR breaking the rules. She is eligible to compete in another event after completing her punishment and USATF decided not to choose the fastest woman in the US for their teams. That’s where the outrage is.

I wonder if USADA made any recommendations to USATF?

I mean, I don’t wonder but I still wanted to pose the rhetorical question

She went from likely hearing the national anthem played with a gold medal around her neck to likely never competing in the Olympic Games. I can’t think of a more drastic personal turn of events. From the proudest moments of her life to utter disgrace. All because of one very bad decision.

Hopefully, this makes some young people realize that just one bad decision can absolutely ruin your life.

If you listen to this place the weed and weed smokers aren't the problem.

My entire argument made sense in context. The part you quoted was addressing how people are defending the rule simply for the sake that it's a rule. If that were the case, I'd expect to see a lot more mask enforcement on the OT. We should challenge rules that are unjust and use situations like Sha'Carri's to do so.

The second half of my post is what was meant for this specific news. There was no rule barring her from the relay: her suspension expires in time for her to run. There's no reason to continue punishing her by not selecting her for the relay. She'll have completed her suspension by that time, and it's why I compared it to Alleva holding Wade out from coaching in the post-season without rules stipulating that he had to.

It’s not a do what you want culture then complain after. Too many useless people that can’t/won’t follow instruction.

While I agree to an extent, many on this board and in general complain and/or try to get out of things like speeding/traffic camera tickets all the time. So if you're saying that people who don't always follow the rules are useless, then the vast majority of this board and country are useless.

It was an absolutely moronic decision that she made given what was at stake and the work she had put in to get where she was. But I'm not going to call her useless. It was pure stupidity though. She at least admitted it and didn't make excuses/bitch and deny it like many people do when they break a rule (even if the rule sucks). Think about how many have lied about steroids, etc., when busted.

It is a dumb rule but it is a rule and she knew that. It's her own fault.
