This is a very unusual year for College football QBs and Nuss isn’t the only high profile guy who regressed. See Klubnik, Allar and Nico (though he put himself in a bad situation). As for the causes of the drop-off, with time will come prospective, and I don’t think we have the whole story yet.

Likely the best thing for Nuss would be to shut it down for this season and focus on rehab/recovery and NFL draft prep. If he’s really hurt - even if it is just a moderate yet nagging injury - there’s no point to continuing to play this year, as it does Nuss nor the team any good. The ‘26 NFL Draft QB class is so thin that I could see Nuss landing in the middle rounds on talent & 2024 performance alone, provided his workouts and interviews go well.

They expected him to run the same offense JD5 ran.

He can’t get the play out of the huddle, players to the LOS and the ball snapped before burning TOs or taking delay penalties. It has been a problem all season. He shows little to no field awareness.

very possible his stellar tackles last season made him look better than he truly is.

I wonder about his football intelligence. He doesn't seem smart. His instincts are certainly slow.

The OLine. And BK and Sloan coached the gunslinger out of him.

And people wonder why these players choose to sit out meaningless bowl games.

If they want to keep any interest in these bowl games at all, I’d make them pre season matchups that the outcomes don’t matter. Push regular season back a month giving the cooler temps more time to come in and use the bowl games as a practice game before season openers.

He is playing scared because of the deficit line play. Getting hit so often will play on your mind.

I'll say it again and again and again until it sticks.

Nuss doesn't take any more hits than the average QB does.

I think he was hurt and had a bad OL which then led to a loss of confidence and mental issues.

Nuss plays like he doesn’t study film and practice around film study with his OL and WRs

He still regularly throws off his back foot in the pocket when he should be transferring his weight to drive the ball.

One thing that's rarely mentioned is the loss of Mason Taylor as a reliable outlet.

The offensive line is not the reason Nuss has regressed. He lacks motivation and has a poor work ethic. He failed to develop any continuity with his receivers over the summer. Brian Kelly and Joe Sloan did not hold him accountable; they allowed him to skate by, and we see the consequences of that every Saturday.

He was never a big play extender who could take over a game. Too much hype going into this season and too much blame on him now. With a good oline and time to throw, a running game to take some pressure off and setup runs, and some separation downfield with several guys who can "go get it," he's very good. With current drop offs in these areas and less talent around him, he's not as effective.

Like three weeks ago you were on here arguing how great Nuss was and that all his bad throws were only injury related

Once again for those in the back please.

According to Tigerdroppings Nuss had a terrible O line last year. O line was an excuse even when the O line was legit.

He simply did not put in the work to be elite. The script was laid out in front of him by Burrow and Daniels and he chose to be LAZY!

Sucks because I had high hopes

This right here. Much of my optimism for 2025 - and I thought we were a playoff team - was because we had this grizzled QB who was going to close out tight games the way veteran quarterbacks in this league often do. Crazy that the one area of our team that we thought preseason was nothing to worry about, QB play, keeps us up at night.
