The SEC intends to fight the court order barring it from punishing teams that suit up former NFL players this fall.
In its first public comment since a Baton Rouge judge barred the conference from punishing schools that sign former professional players, the league told CBS Sports on Sunday evening that it and its commissioner, Greg Sankey, will contest the case in a Louisiana courtroom on Thursday morning.
"The order entered against the SEC and Commissioner Sankey is a temporary restraining order, not a final ruling on the merits," the conference said in a statement. "The SEC and Commissioner Sankey are prepared to contest the allegations in the plaintiffs' petition at Thursday morning's hearing and defend the SEC's rights as a voluntary association to fulfill its mission to its member institutions."
The conference said it will continue to comply with the order for now and will "carefully review the Court's decision and determine the appropriate next steps" once the hearing ends.

3 depth pieces aren’t worth it.

Will they redeclare Chambliss ineligible due to the new 5 for 5 rule? His illness doesn’t matter under the new rules.

I like how the ESPN article makes its sound like it’s only potential LSU players and leaves out the fact that it’s other conference members as well.
Then I saw who wrote it…

Does sankey have to show up. Or can he just send lawyers?

Not like they have much of a choice

Harris and Pyburn are starters. The TE from Ole Miss is kind of a starter too giving hes going to open up the Offense.

They can fight it all they want, but it looks like so far every court room this type of case has been heard the players win. I don't see that changing as precedent has been set

Its like a seesaw. Its exhausting. This morning they weren't gonna fight, now they are gonna fight

From the article. Doesn’t really align with the language in the headline.

I just don’t get why 99% of the fans are dying on this hill
And are fine with the suspension if handed down. Just for depth
The starters have worked their arse off all fall and we will be fine. I just don’t think it’s worth the squeeze.

Ok heres an idea: Monday morning, legally change coach Kiffins' position to "advisor", name Coach O head coach, sign the frick out of the NFL players, then double your revenue with all the extra publicity to make up for the 50% penalty.
frick Stanky and the SEC

Coach Kiffin seems to think it is, and he knows way more about the team than you ever will

There’s also a similar lawsuit and ruling in Texas. The conference will have its hands full. Disappointing that the schools are also giving Sankey more power. I don't want another Roger Goodell.
