That series legit put us on the map.

Just getting back on campus (stayed in S. Stadium). Ran my stuff up to my dorm and hurried over to Alex Box to catch maybe the last two innings.

Little did we know then what greatness was just over the horizon.

I actually like him more knowing he is a a-hole.

2 posters getting into a license plate slap-fight made this thread worthy.

To be fair, no one outside of LSU really gave a crap about our run in the 90s

I know right. Get a little detail wrong and your story is totally unbelievable. Nazis are out there.

Will Clark is the best college baseball player I’ve ever seen

You never saw Eddy Furniss, Todd Walker, Ben McDonald, DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Nola, or Alex Bregman just to name a few?

Didn’t Palmeiro actually have a little bit better college career than Clark?

Palmeiro had a few more career HRs and was the only hitter to claim the SEC Triple Crown (HR, RBI, AVG) until Brent Rooker did it in 2017

You saw a 10 character license plate?

T-H-R-I-L-L-2-2
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8

And the limit is 7 characters, so it was likely "THRIL22"

Clark is a lot like Alex Bregman. I have met both, and I think they share some of the same personality traits. Alex, I would say, is a touch more friendly with strangers than Clark tends to be.

Both are fiery competitive. Both don't suffer fools gladly, certainly not when it comes to baseball.

The license plate poster claimed that Clark missed the limelight, and I would dispute that. Clark walked away from a 15-year MLB career in 2000 at the age of 36. He batted. 319 with a .964 OPS. He went on to bat .412 for the Cardinals in the NLCS and suddenly announced he was retiring -- still a force in his team's lineup.

He has a son with learning disabilities, and his devotion to the son has been extraordinary. I think ESPN even did a piece on their relationship. He didn't retire from the limelight, rather he left baseball to spend time with his family.

He has said more than once that he would have come to LSU "if they had a coach." He chose Ron Polk over Jack Lamabe. Can't blame him.

He was fun to watch, just as now Bregman is. That's what matters most.

Outside of the SEC and a hand full of other places, I’m not sure that anyone really cares now.

Played in a baseball league in BR with his son on my team. Will was nothing but a great guy to all of us.

Had some great stories to tell too. Guy was pretty cool IMO.

The vast majority of sports fans still don't give a crap about college baseball.
