There are tie-breakers today, and there will be tie-breakers tomorrow. They will come up with something. E.g: Record against common opponents and probably others.

And those approaches suck compared to head to head or a division record.

Ok with this but get rid of the permanent partners. Everybody has the same rotating schedule.

Probably 9 game schedule with 3 permanents. Each team could have their own custom setup

So a pod system?!

If it is 3 permanent opponents and 6 other games. Essentially that is the equivalent to a pod schedule they are just lumping all together for Championship game
seeding.

It's the equivalent of pods in that there are 3 perms. This set up allows every team to have a different 3 perm. Maximizes the preservation of rivalry games.

I like the sound of it.
Nothing is locked in stone forever as long as he doesn’t call the division “Legends” or “Leaders” it’s a quality start.

It's going to happen, but not as often as you seem to think it will happen. First, there has to be a tie. Second, you didn't play each other. With this schedule, there is only 6 teams you are not playing. So it's more likely you played them than not.

There's no way they're putting Bama with Auburn, Tenn, LSU. At least not with other schools like Tennessee getting Vandy and SCar.

I'd happily drop Ole Miss and A&M for Auburn and Florida to balance that. But they seem hellbent on keeping us and A&M together, and it's kind of annoying. Let A&M have Arkansas and leave us alone

Agree, but it should be close to that with probably 5-10 different games total.

2 highest ranked teams play for championship. Makes sense
"ranked" means what???

Silly voter polls?

Hard pass on that.

For all of A&Ms resources, they’re likely to always be a .500 team (like they are last 30 years in SEC and Big 12 play). I say keep them, they’re really Kentucky with oil money.

Call me a skeptic or pessimist, but the SEC could really play games with scheduling using this arrangement. I wonder how Alabama will fare once the conference starts working with new schedules and permanent games...

Everyone will have to play every team is the SEC home and away within a 4 year period. Not a lot you can do. If you go easy one year, they're going in really hard the next.

No. A pod system is where each team within the pod plays one another every year.

This would be each team has their own separate permanent opponents.

I think they should but they make way too much money off of them for them to go away.

9 game SEC schedule with 3 permanent opponents. You will play the entire SEC home and away in 4 years.

That would still be pods genius.

I think with a 12 team playoff you are going to eventually see conference championship games go by the wayside

Using this year as an example, this would be perfect for LSU. We would get in without the risk of injury from an extra game.

It's not though. Let's say LSU's permanents are A&M, Ole Miss, and Florida. It would be a pod if Florida had to also play Ole Miss and A&M yearly, it would be a pseudo-division where the whole pod has each other as permanents. But that's not what this proposal is, everyone has different permanent opponents.
