TAF is competing for the same dollar that these NIL deals are competing for.

Yep, I'm sure the guy who just spent $17M to fire his head football coach and another $100M+ to hire Kelly and his staff of thousands doesn't care about something that will give LSU a competitive advantage.

The premise is so stupid as to defy belief.

To the extent there are problems, they exist because of state NIL legislation and a pool of available money that is much smaller than our nearest competitors.

Woodward has no control over the latter but he can try to do something about the former.

It really does feel like the 1990s.. we’re hemorrhaging in-state talent because we dished out 20 mil for Coach O to have sex in Destin

Did you stop paying attention in early December? There have been some great moves lately.

OP is a moron

Well he is wrong for sure. According to NCAA guidelines NIL money should not be paid to players until they actually play. It is not supposed to be used as a recruiting tool. Coaches cannot offer NIL as part of recruitment.

State Laws also get involved with the payout of NIL but I am sure it varies from state to state.

What exactly is the state NIL legislation that is hampering us?

They don't get it. Don't even start the conversation.

Most don't even realize how it has been done for years, much less what they need to do now.

LSU is not competing with these school's financially. Profit margin? Yes

Budget? Hell no

We have geographical/political advantages, and we must depend on some loyalty in those regards.

Personally, I'm not interested in the free market/highest bidder without loyalties

I will move on, as I have in other interests

IIRC, it prevents LSU from brokering the deals. They must be done independently of the university. I'm not familiar with the details.

He better figure it out or he won’t be the AD for long. As football goes, so does his job. That’s facts.

I think you are bitching and complaining about things that NCAA is going to be forced to correct. They literally gave SMU the death penalty over something that is now approved. I think they are going to have to start looking at how they can limit compensation to athletes per year to keep parody in the leagues. Like an athlete is limited to $100k in NIL deals annually. It is much more likely that they can get that to work legally than they could stop people from using their NIL in general to make any money.

He's just the front man for the collective

The OP has no clue what he's talking about

Do we have the money to compete with the Texas schools? no
Everyone else? yes

Why would you offer a 3* TE and a good RB(the least important position on the field where you are deep at) more money than they are worth?)

I mean we offered Matthews hundreds of thousands of dollars

Put differently, Woodward just spent $117M for a coach of a sport that we can’t hope to compete in due to inherent and maybe unfixable structural limitations.

That does not seem smart.
