And Schmidt has two years to do it.

I love how Schmidt followed Anderson and Eyanson in the dugout during the games. He wants to know what they know.

What makes you think that Jay won’t perform portal magic? It’s what he does. He is the hardest working recruiter in baseball.

Shores is a draft-eligible sophomore. He's likely gone, but anything after 4th round and he might be back (combination NIL / higher draft stock).

You’re out of your ducking mind if you think next year is a rebuild. Look at the core that they have to build off of. We’re going for #9 next year

5 of the 9 starters are back and pitching decently deep before the portal. Def a better spot this year ending the season vs last.

Guidry back to starter or closer?

With the 34 man roster not sure we can afford to keep GG around, given his injury history

Would have been a conversation topic last season, but this is Shores' third year at LSU.

Schmidt, Evans and probably a transfer will likely be our rotation next year or a few of our top 5 pitchers either way.

A left handed transfer is what we need to go with the righties.

I feel like I'm the only on that thinks Rizy could be one of the next big deals at LSU.

Rizy will definitely be counted on next year. He was right on the cusp this year

Schmidt looked better as a starter than reliever. He has the talent to make an Anderson type leap. For those listing Shores on the roster next season, he is gone. If he came back, he would still be mid to late inning relief. He seemed very comfortable there. Someone in the broadcast even said, you will see him coming out of an MLB bullpen very soon.

The TV telecast showed him in the late innings with Anderson and Eyanson in the clubhouse corridor apparently discussing the pitch charts. I liked seeing that. Makes me think he is paying attention specifically to what is going on out there on the mound with regard to plan and execution.

I'll take that bet right now..it'll be a reload not a rebuild.

What defines it? I think next year will be a lot like 2024.

FYI, I had a chance to speak to Ben McDonald in the Hilton Omaha Starbucks. He thinks Frey comes back due to no established position yet.

What we really need is for the fans to be patient. Next year is going to be a rebuilding year to lay the foundation for the following year. We probably will not finish in the top half of the SEC, unless Jay performs astonishing portal magic.

Terrible take. 2026 is NOT a rebuild year for this team. You have a ton of talented young arms, an outfield that could consist of Curiel, Brown, and Larson. Milam (MAYBE Dickenson), Frey, and Reaves back. Arrambide behind the dish. Get a starting pitcher and an infielder or two out of the portal and you've got the makings of another NC team.

It took him time to develop in high school and it will in college as well.

Yeah, in the on field interview, Johnson said something to the affect of us throwing 3 guys this weekend who will be on an MLB roster in 18 mos. The third guy being Shores.

Or at least that's what I think I heard. I had been overserved by my ownself at that point
