1. I find it hard to believe UT will pay $3 mil a year for anyone in baseball.
My GUESS is it is just over $2 mil, maybe $2.1 mil.
I know it's Moscona, so take it for what it's worth, but he's been saying all day it's $30 million over 10 years, all guaranteed.

What does that say about AM? they have big money too,
Which is why I said both TX schools.
Aggie weirdness is another reason we should have passed

That is outrageous for a sport that only makes money at a handful of schools
And still less than we pay Mulkey.

His most recent contract extension had made him the highest paid coach in the country at the time.
I thought I read Jay was behind both OSullivan and Corbin.

Red flags ? Stfu aint no red flags they were young dude fricking idiot! And jay probably will get that raise !

Mulkey is worth more than any other HC we have on campus now.
As long as the SEC allocates ALL the media rights money to fball and MBB, no WBB or baseball program is gonna break even. And that practice is going to change starting in 2025.

"They had to overpay. He had no reason to leave a&m"
- He won't make more than $2.2M, if that.
- His AD pick at A&M wasn't hired.
- His best friend is the AD at TU.
- Texas is a premier program. A&M is not.
He had numerous reasons to leave without being overpaid. It wasn't all money.

With the way the transfer portal is, coaches are underpaid.
It’s the opposite. When the schools start paying the players directly, coach and admin salaries will decrease.
Especially in money losing or break even programs like baseball.

Wait till Vitello extension and raise is announced. He will be in the top 2 of highest paid baseball coaches in the country. Rumor is, Vitello is about to get an extension that’s worth $2.5 a year + incentives that could push it up to $3 million.

Vitello extension and raise is expected to be announced with in the week. It’s rumored to be around $2.5 million + incentives that could push it up to $3 million.

Do why did they overpay him then?
He got a&m to the final 4 both years there. He had no baseball reason to leave.

Exactly, There is no market to reset.
The one thing that drove football coaching salaries thru the roof was large, long term, network/cable television deals. That doesn't exist in college baseball. At least the Mulkey contract could be justified with marketing/national branding implications even before she won a championship. That also currently does not exist in college baseball. At best, Texas paying a baseball coach $3M is a loss leader. At just about any other school in the country, it would be financial suicide for the program.

I agree, what I’m saying is who wouldn’t take a job that double your current pay. He is trying to get ready to hang em up I would think. $1,600,000 a year at aTm or $3,000,000 a year at Texas.
Cant fault the guy for taking the money, the question is did he allow aTm a chance to match, and why tf was he such a **** and blatant liar to the reporter. Bc that stuff was ugly and he is now a blatant liar scum in my book.

Yeah honestly that’s absurd, there was a point not too long ago where 3 million was absurd for a football coach.
No one watches baseball.
Seems like Texas just wanted to give a big frick you to A&M. He’s a good coach but not $3M good.

You do know that just because you don't watch it doesn't mean that no one watches it, right?
Just like because I watch it doesn't mean it's immensely popular.
Not everything falls into extremes. There is an audience.

This what happens when you let moneybags Texas into the SEC.
