Deserved. Texas over here backing up the brinks truck for a coach that hasn't won anything of significance.
He's been close.
He had that a&m team in the final 4 the last 2 years. Had tcu rolling too

I’m not buying it until a link is provided.
2x as much as Vitello at $1.5M
It’s absurd
How do you think they got him from a&m?
They had to overpay. He had no reason to leave a&m

All of his success at TCU came with rosters built by Vitello.

I wouldn't be surprised though. Why would he leave a school that he just lost game 3 in the national championship by a single point? It's not like aTm can't afford to make him the highest paid college baseball coach in America. So it has to be a stupid high offer for him to dip that aTm did feel was worth it.
Or Schloss just didn’t want to be at A&M anymore. He was king at TCU. He probably figured if I’m miserable might as well chase the money.

LSU is paying the girls basketball coach $3.6m per year for a program that loses multiple times more than that per year.
Obviously baseball will never make football or basketball profits, but given the state of SEC baseball, it’s a growth market.

You don't know that. He'd already built A&M into a top program in the country and was ready to compete annually.
Maybe he didnt want to be at A&M anymore and would have bolted for even just a bit more money to be at UT. We dont know what his line of thinking is. He basically took this deal in the middle part of the season from UT and then lied literally about wanting to be at A&M just before officially leaving there. To me that sounds like a guy who probably just didnt enjoy being in college station. Keep in mind he spent forever living in DFW at TCU which is quite a different scene than living in a college town like College Station. It's far enough away from Houston I doubt he was making that commute every day.

And the cost of living in Austin in much higher than College Station.

and leaves what he'd built for just an extra $600k.
Would be closer to $700k in what I was saying which is almost a 50% raise which is MASSIVE.
Again, if they are giving him a $3M/yr contract it's simply beyond stupid considering the highest paid coach as it stands right now makes like 65% of that. It just puts immediate MASSIVE pressure on him to win big and do it very very quickly. You think Texas will be patient paying a baseball coach $3M/yr if they dont win a title in 3-4 years?

Sound more like he had issues with the new AD at A&M

Absurd
Texas and their $$ is going to fu** a lot of things, moving forward.
$$ aside, letting either TX school in the SEC may end up sucking a lot. Maybe should have added TCU.

Yeah, that is some slimy bullshite. Schloss can go frick himself. I hated UT enough already having to live amongst the tea sips for 6 years, they can really go frick themselves now.

fricking Texas man. They truly do just frick everything up.

I think this will make some school AD's nervous and you will see incremental salary bumps at like UF, LSU, ARK, FSU, UNC etc because they don't want to lose their coach to another program but by & large most schools can't afford to pay that.

While all that may be true--and he may have been so ready to leave College Station that he'd have taken the UT job for the exact same money--he needs a significant pay raise just to save face and help his reputation for future recruiting. This move will be used to negatively recruit against him either way. But a huge raise would be harder to argue against. You may be right. It may be $2.2. But I don't think we can just assume that. We'll find out soon enough, though, I guess. I hope you're right as it will be better for us.

Idk, 99% of schools aren’t Texas and won’t spend $3 million on a fricking baseball coach.

And Alex Box needs an insane monetary investment, not the tiny arse renos planned

1. I find it hard to believe UT will pay $3 mil a year for anyone in baseball.
My GUESS is it is just over $2 mil, maybe $2.1 mil.
2. Schloss has no family living with him. His kids are adults and his divorced wife lives in Ft Worth.
3. Austin is an infinitely better place to live than anywhere in or around College Station.

Oh I have no clue what Texas is paying him, just saying if they giving him $3M+ a year it's a completely stupid deal to go 50% over top market value for baseball coaches. They definitely wouldnt have had to do that to get him there.

OP is mistaken. Texas has to pay upwards of $3 million to get Schloss, as in buy out to A&M plus salary.
Jim Schlossnagle buyout
Schlossnagle's buyout was set at $1.35 million, though his Texas A&M contract stipulates that if he leaves the Aggies for another in-state program — such as Texas — it doubles to $2.7 million.
Schlossnagle's new contract at Texas has yet to be reported or announced, but he will almost certainly receive a pay increase from his $1.35 million base salary with Texas A&M for the 2024 season (not including a $110,000 bonus from Wilson, which brought his 2024 salary to $1.46 million).
