Why would that be an issue? Seems like a team building event. Why wouldn’t a coach be able to do that for his players? frick the NCAA if they bring down punishment for this. Bama or not that would be some bs.

The law may be an arse, but its still the law.

Why don't you respond to the point raised regarding NCAA rules and violations instead of trying to make a pithy point totally irrelevant to the subject.

Why don’t you quit trying to make something out of nothing. This is nothing new. Did you go ape shite when Marcus Spears and Michael Clayton were fishing in Saban’s pond in BR quite often?

You don't know the law, no matter how much you are acting otherwise in this thread.

If this is an NCAA violation then its not something out of nothing. The NCAA believes this kind of thing is not permissible.

Those were not violations. These were young men out sweating and catching fish to feed their families while the rest of us wer esitting in airconditioning.

This is nothing compared to the other egregious violations and favoritism they get away with. I’ve learned to accept it and move on
They let Orgeron get away with giving the team rides on his shrimp boat down da bayou.

IMO nothing will come of this. Nick Saban (and Alabama) is invincible.

The NCAA is Saban's bitch.

There could be video of this and a guarantee nothing would come of it. If it were any other school, they would get the death penalty.

I think it’s awesome and shouldn’t be against ANY rules.

Glad it’s not happening in Louisiana. The people in Georgia must get nauseated watching it go down so close to their beloved Athens.

I’m sure the feminist women’s studies department holds events these gentlemen are not welcome to attend.

The NCAA needs to bring the hammer down. You may think this is facetious but Bruce Pearl got Tennesse basketball on probation by hosting barbecues for his players and he was eventually fired by the university as a result.

Bro they don't get you for doing something like that for your players. Like another guy said, that was a recruit. Several coaches have part of their team's over for barbeques.

Honestly I am a die hard LSU fan. I found the video funny and have no problem with coaches spending time with their players like this...I hope they all do it. If that is a violation it is a stupid one. Taking kids out for a fun time on the water is not doing anything but giving the kids a positive role mode to look up to. It actually gave me a lot of respect for Saban. Now let’s talk about that Yankees shirt.

I don't disagree, but it is a rules violation. Coaches cannot drive players across campus to class during a thundrestorm so why would it be legal to drive them around the lake on a boat for recreation?

Coaches cannot buy a player a whopper value meal so why would you think its legal to host them for a barbecue.

Now if there is some exception for these types of outings please produce it.

According to the man himself, Finebaum has been on that boat "too many times to count". Does that make up for the regular students not being invited? He's been doing this for yrs, pretty sure the NCAA's know about it.

If true, that's rediculous. If a coach can't take their players on a boat ride then the rules need to be changed...after the put Bama on vacation of course.
