He has a lake house in AL as well as the one in Jawja.
They're in AL, not Jawja.

As someone else pointed out, he's been doing this for years and the Univ. posted it on our Twitter. Not illegal.

Please identify in the rule book where providing entertainment is allowed. The coaches can occasionally host them for meals. Providing boat riding is a violation as it has an enumerated expense- the cost of the boat, maintenance and gas.

Should’ve kept reading, Chief. There is NOTHING about what you can and cannot do at the coach’s home. It does not say that riding in a boat is “travel,” nor does it declare what constitutes expense. That is the coach’s personal property and he’s not giving it away.

quote:

6. On infrequent, special occasions (e.g., a birthday, Thanksgiving, etc.), a student-athlete may accept an invitation to the home of an employee of the University or an athletics booster for a meal.

Oh and you were wrong about rides, even across campus.

quote:

12. A University employee may provide a student-athlete only reasonable and occasional local (i.e., within a 30-mile radius of the campus) transportation. However, a University employee may not utilize a University vehicle for purposes of assisting a student-athlete’s move from one residence to another.

Just give up, you’re embarrassing yourself.

Literally nobody cares. Quit being jealous that they have a good coach. Getting rid of Saban doesn’t make us relevant.

Right here.

quote:

Division I took its first steps toward a rulebook that is more meaningful, enforceable and supportive of student-athlete success when the Board of Directors on Saturday adopted a set of proposals aimed at creating a more flexible manual based on common sense.

The rules changes are the latest transformation to grow from the August 2011 summit for Division I presidents and chancellors. NCAA President Mark Emmert called the summit to further engage presidential leadership to address the critical issues facing intercollegiate athletics.

quote:

The Board voted Saturday to deregulate in several areas, including personnel, amateurism, recruiting, eligibility and awards, benefits and expenses, and create a set of commitments that will serve as the foundation for all future rules changes.

quote:

16-6, which will allow institutions to provide reasonable entertainment in conjunction with competition or practice.

You owe Nick Saban and the rest of this entire board an apology, sir.

Competition is three months away.

Official practice does not start for two months.

I owe no apologies to anyone, sir.

Now prove where the manual specifically allows for this kind of entertainment such as boat riding. Unless this is a benefit provided to other Alabama students its a violation.

Note:
16.02.3 Extra Benefit. [A] An extra benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee or representativeof the institution’s athletics interests to provide a student-athlete or the student-athlete family memberor friend a benefit not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation. Receipt of a benefit by student-athletes or their family members or friends is not a violation of NCAA legislation if it is demonstrated that the same benefit isgenerally available to the institution’s students ortheir family members or friends or to a particular segment of the student body

Seven pages indicates people do care. Its people like you that refuse to address the topic and resort to personal attacks or try to demean the issue raised.

It has nothing to do with jealousy. I wish Saban had never left LSU but he did and history is what it is . That still does not allow him and his current school to flaunt the rules with impunity.

I don’t have to and neither does Nick Saban. That’s not how rules work. Where is it expressly written that boat rides are impermissible entertainment?

I would also like to point out that the NCAA allows for expenses to be covered for “Non-competitive events.” I believe Saban has referred to this yearly event as the Leadership Summit. That’s what it was called when he was at LSU when he was having players over to goof off.

Says someone who is ok with having a shrimp boat captain as our head FB coach. Please accept the fact that Saban is a better coach and recruiter than anyone LSU can ever get. I love LSU FB more than anything but I also have enough sense to know that when this is as good as it gets, we are in a sad state and it isn’t another coaches fault. He’s just better-plain and simple.

Think again:

16.01 General Principles. [A]
16.01.1 Eligibility Effect of Violation. [A] A student-athlete shall not receive any extra benefit. Receipt
by a student-athlete of an award, benefit or expense allowance not authorized by NCAA legislation renders thestudent-athlete ineligible for athletics competition in the sport for which the improper award, benefit or expensewas received.

16.02.3 Extra Benefit. [A] An extra benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee or representativeof the institution’s athletics interests to provide a student-athlete or the student-athlete family memberor friend a benefit not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation.

We haven't beaten them the last 7 games, so we're reduced to complaining about a boat ride?

This is just pathetic.

don't understand why several of you raise this shite. It doesn't matter, if it was Texas A&M doing it whom we have beaten a similar number of times in a row. it would still be a violation. Just stick to the issue.

Your delusion is hysterical.

Call the NCAA Offices and tell them your outrage and recite EVERY thing you cited in this nonsensical thread, then come back here and tell us if they agree with your analysis.

Of course you won’t, therefore you’re woefully stupid to believe what you do. Most in this thread already know that.

I actually plan to do just that. I will let you know what they tell me.

I expect hosting the playrs is permissible as long as it is only done occasionally.

Providing access to the boat riding will not be permitted.

Remember the NCAA has to approve certain benefits or it is a violation.

Of three things you can be sure. *They are well aware of the boat rides, and Saban's open houses at Alabama. And have been aware of it for years. And were made aware of it before they ever happened by the U. of A. And have had other rabid and even psycho fans send them clippings, internet photo's off UA sites and television clips showing where Saban and UA publicized his humanity and fun side. Nothing happens in these D-1 programs in a vacuum. They have a staff of folks who do nothing else. They are aware of even more elaborate venues such the fishing, the putt, putt golf, the swimming and diving setups. And the beach homes with awesome setups that make Saban's look mundane. If Mark Richt happens to have a beach front home and a bullet boat and the UM approves the liability then have at it. Plus the mountain retreats and fun entertainment in some of those venues. *And they will thank you for your interest and diligence. *Then share a laugh with a co-worker and probably their spouse when they ask them how they spent their day..."oh, 3 Nick Saban complaints, 2 Rodney Garner sightings and a gambler who lost his life savings and wants to report point shaving"
