I do wonder how Saban would have worked out here if he stayed. I do think we win another championship or 2 but I don't think he becomes what he has at Alabama. Him failing with the Dolphins to me shook him that his next stop he was determined not to fail. Now I never thought he would have been this damn good at Bama.

Or Nick shouldn't have said he was leaving every damn year. But hey let's worship the guy that has done everything to beat LSU since that was the program in their way.

If your boy was hired after DiNardo we wouldn’t have won any national titles

I love him because he gave us a Natty and a Super Bowl when he decided Brees wasn't a good fit.

No, it's not. It is a great compliment and a sincere statement of regret.

This is why I have never been mad about Saban leaving and the ending up at Bama.

He always wanted to be an NFL coach (at least, he always thought he did). It was always the logical next step for him and Huezinga gave him a golden opportunity-total control.

But, it blew up on him (as I expected it would) because the NFL and NFL players had radically changed from his days as Belichek's DC in Cleveland.

He wanted back in college and the LSU job wasn't available (although, by most accounts, he did inquire all the same). So, he went with the best opportunity available - Bama.

You can not like the outcome, but you cannot begrudge the man the career choices he made.

That's why I don't get the Sabah hate. The guy singlehandly rebuilt our program from the ashes and it's been in the National spotlight even since. We owe him lots of thanks.

And the Bama obsession goes on. Do you think they are posting stories about O on their sites??

You ever been on the Rant and seen how many times Bama fans reference O?

I think it’s basically this: there was a hope that after 5 years in BR he would have become an LSU fan, and wouldn’t have gotten a job with our division rival. He didn’t care about that, he cared about his own agenda. There was no loyalty or deference to LSU. Some people are perfectly ok with that, and some aren’t.

Yeah, but he couldn’t see that until he left. If he hadn’t have left when he did, he would have left the next year. He was a rolling stone until the NFL bit him and only then could he realize how good he had it.

He almost left for the Bears the year before.

This x 10.

We didn't sniff the top 5 for nearly 40 years after Dietzel left until he came along. He made us relevant in College Football when no one else could. Not even Cholly Mac could.

First off, he didn't leave us for another college gig.
Secondly, Bama had an opening when he wanted to come back to college and they pursued him hard.
Lastly, everyone makes decisions based on their own agenda. Why do you consider this unique?

I don’t know why anyone would be mad that he left us for the NFL.
