Remember commenting that we may have just seen the pinnacle of LSU football.
Bert never should have let him leave to begin with. Ego showdown that looking back was a big mistake by our AD.
Coach Bertman is the epitome of a 'results orientated guy'; I mean excessively and compulsively so.

You just outlined why CSB did what he did. Miles produced at the right time. I don't think it was about egos at all. If Miles hadn't produced then, I have no doubt CSB would've been laying the groundwork with boosters and BoS to boot him. He was also a decisive man. Once he started, Miles would've been gone.

Now that I think about it, Bertman is the anti-Alleva, results orientated and decisive.

I think it's stupid that over a decade after he spurned us, many on here still drool over his every move.

I’m not mad at him. And whomever is mad is being a hypocrite. Bc we all have switched jobs before! He was offered a hc/Gm job in the nfl. If anyone here say they would turn down a chance to fulfill one of their goals In life, they are lying. We didn’t have an opening when he decided the nfl wasn’t for him!

By your logic the next topic should be about Dinardo, right? Since it's not a Saban/Bama obsession.

Cmon man. He lead us to a national title and is now coaching our nemesis to unprecedented success. It’s not difficult to see why Saban would be a common topic on here.

He said he wished he would have never left college football, not LSU. He would not be here today anyway.

I’ll take coach O any day. He’s one of us.

We should’ve fired Miles when he wanted to come back to coach college

Or Nick shouldn't have said he was leaving every damn year. But hey let's worship the guy that has done everything to beat LSU since that was the program in their way.

The LSU saban complex is one of the most complicated in college football history. Good god.

How is it complicated? We had the greatest coach in college football history on our campus and we let him go. Nothing complicated about our relationship with him.

Yea, that poster just wanted to say "good God" in a condescending way. It's actually the least complicated thing in college football history.

Ego was when Saban was about to leave for Miami. Skip should have thrown the bank at him.
So we got another championship with Miles which is probably 2 more than most of us thought we would see in our lifetimes.
That 21-0 and the results going forward have been extremely painful to endure. Tuscaloosa is not going to be another 6 - 3 game this season. Tigers are going all out to score.

Did you even read Sabans quotes? He was leaving no matter what. The only thing that would change that is if he built a fricking time machine.

He wanted to be a pro coach. He regrets that NOW. Not then.

Nick Saban is the very definition of LIAR. If he tells you it's nighttime and the skies are dark... You'd best stick your head outside and look. The man would lie to your face just because.

I can respect that. It is hard to lay blame on yourself as he is doing here. I do not like him being at Alabama but this was good of him to lay it out there.

Y'all are some butt hurt folks.

Newsflash fellow LSU fans...by the time Saban was back on the college coaching market, LSU was on it's way to a second national title in 5 years.

We had moved on quite nicely.

At that particular time, it was a non issue.

Well obviously in an ideal world he could have kept him. But Saban wanted to be a head coach in the NFL. He was a successful DC under Bellichik in Cleveland. The Dolphins gave him a job. I don’t know what Skip or anyone could have done to stop that.

I can’t help feeling that the replies to this thread are very revealing about how posters treat their exes.

It ranges from, “We sure had some good times” to “It’s a shame. Oh, what could have been” to “Choke on a dick and suffer.”
