I don't think anyone had Tiger Cards back then.

I don't remember having them at all and I graduated in 1985.

A salute to an outstanding coach and recruiter for the Tigers. May he rest in peace.

That 1979/1980/1981 MBB run was so much fun.

Dewayne “Astronaut” Scales was fun to watch. He would bring the house down with his bombs.

Rudy don't come here without Ron Abernathy. Met him a few times was a gentleman and always treated the fans with respect. RIP Ron.

right after I got out of LSU I spent the night with my gf in what used to be the "new" Hilton, we lived in Lafayette and she was an attorney and had to be in court in BR early, we were having breakfast and we saw Dale Brown having breakfast with what I'm assuming were two recruits, when the bill came he pull out a wad of cash bigger than I've ever seen, those kids eye got as big as pizza pans

I don't click on GG's stories.

I know him from growing up in Metairie and from Rummel, my "brother school." He blocked me on Facebook and other social media for criticism of his "journalism."

He's a piece of work. I can't believe he is an award winning journalist. The award presenters have lost their minds.

“I didn’t like John Brady at first,” Brown said just recently. “But I grew to admire and
respect him as a coach and a man. He did a wonderful job with his Final Four team and
really should’ve got to coach longer. I’m proud of him.”

Has Brown done anything to help LSU hoops. He doesn't like Wade either

That would be $2.000 in cash going to Chris Jackson.

Going to have to add a few more zeros these days.

Yep, I remember the story of Abernathy sleeping in his car in front of Macklin’s house to recruit & sign him…

No. It was Ron, and I'm pretty sure it was 50k, and it was meant to pay for John Williams out of Los Angeles (#1 recruit in the country and VASTLY underrated player in Tiger history).

I'm pretty sure I'm right about this, but some other poster may have a better recollection than I do.

Big John is a starter on my all time LSU basketball team, and that list is extremely deep to choose from.

RIP, Coach. Those really were some fun times for LSU Basketball, back in the day- and he was obviously a huge part of it.
