re: Reece Davis and Pete Thamel personally address the LSU fans in their latest podcast

Tenn’s only hope is LSU losing in the SECCG. Even if that happens they are fighting a one loss Ohio State or Michigan and also possibly a one loss PAC-12 champ in USC (unlikely though). I don’t think Tenn gets in either way.

Did they address if LSU is sitting at #5 or #6 in the country and beat the #1 team in the country (while Tenn is sitting at home), how would they not jump Tenn? Any other week in the season and that happens they would pass them up.

Not the least bit worried about this until LSU actually wins the SEC championship game. Then I will be concerned. I don’t like wasting my time on what ifs.

I get what he's saying. He views the blowout as a tie breaker basically. But it so undervalues the SEC championship. I honestly think UGA is borederline unbeatable this year. Too many teams have flaws that UGA can just doesn't have.
LSU winning the SEC championship would present a very difficult position for the CFP committee where they would have to explain their choice. If you take 10-2 SEC champ LSU over 11-1 Tennessee, despite Tennessee's blowout win over LSU, then you are saying you are valuing a conference championship over everything else. That's fine. But then you have to explain putting two loss SEC champ LSU in over 1 loss non-SEC champ Tennessee, when last season you put 1 loss non-SEC champ Georgia in over 2 loss Big 12 champ Baylor. The same thing happened in 2017 when 1 loss, non-SEC champ Alabama was in while 2 loss Big 10 champ Ohio St was out.
Then you had the scenario in 2016 where 11-1 Ohio St got in ahead of 2 loss Big 10 champ Penn St....even despite the fact Penn St. BEAT Ohio St. that season. The justification from the committee in making that decision is they felt OSU was the better team all season while PSU just kind of got hot late. The reality is the committee just felt OSU was SUBJECTIVELY the better team and they needed some sort of irrational OBJECTIVE basis to justify it.
If who the committee feels is SUBJECTIVELY the 4 best teams, regardless of record or conference finish, is all that matters, then that doesn't bode well for LSU IMO. As it stands now Tennessee has played the strongest schedule among Tennessee, LSU and Georgia. They arguably have been more subjectively "dominant" than LSU this season. Another thing that no one talks about is the assumption that Georgia is in no matter what happens in the SECCG. Why? By that time Georgia will have played the weakest schedule of the three SEC teams. And if head to head results don't matter then their win over Tennessee is irrelevant.
Many are assuming without wanting to hear any counter-argument whatsoever that if LSU wins the SEC championship they are in the CFP without any debate. I don't think it is that cut and dry. Especially, because I think the committee in no, way, shape or form wants to put 3 SEC teams in the playoffs. They will craft whatever logic is necessary to ensure that doesn't happen.

They are so adverse to a 2 loss team making the playoffs before it goes to 12 teams that they are willing to discount an SEC Champion with a recent win over #1 to make their point

What gets me about Rece fricking Davis is he keeps wanting to talk about LSU's blowout loss to Tennessee yet not once has he talked about Tennessee's blowout loss to Georgia. Forget the final score 27-13, that games wasn't even that remotely close.
If not for the fact that we indeed spotted Tennessee 17 points in the first half alone, that game would have been closer score wise. frick off Davis! He is the main reason I don't watch College Game Day anymore, well him and Butt Hurt Pollack. Those two can't even hide their hate for LSU,

I flatly disagree. That’s pure eye-test, and the committee doesn’t seem to care much for that- only W’s and L’s

Why does what they said piss people off so much lol. Anything short of, “LSU should be the number 1 team in the country and everyone must agree with that” and people flip shite.

Brian Kelly said a long time ago in a press conference that he wasn’t trying to keep the Tennessee game close. It was win or not win and that is why he kept going for it on 4th. Seems like a silly reason to throw out the SEC Championship

They drool over UGA all year until LSU beats them in the biggest game of them all and then it's no big deal.
Rece should stick to being a host without opinions and Pete should stick to being an investigative reporter with an obsession with LSU.

Yes but Georgia does have one huge flaw that we don’t have.
And as long as that dipshit is on their sideline, any team in America could possibly beat them.

Just from the little I watched, their narrative is conference championships don’t carry as much weight as head to head. “Head to head” sounds like the “eye test” the talking heads used back in 2011.
i mean god damn...if we cant use head to head match ups to determine who is better than why the hell even play the games to begin with?
i get conference championships have to carry weight and should proceed pretty much everything else but if you are not considering that and just getting best team....head to head has to matter big time.

It's not complicated. UT was a bad loss that will be 8 games ago by the time LSU plays UGA. If LSU wins they will have a 7 game win streak including knocking off:
-Top 10 ranked Bama
-Top 15 ranked Ole Miss
-#1 undefeated and reigning champ UGA
They will have won the SEC and knocked off the team that destroyed UT which more than negates a loss 8 games ago. LSU's SOS will be Top 5 after playing UGA. The FSU 1 point loss on opening weekend doesn't look as bad considering FSU is currently Top 20 and could finish Top 15.
The biggest negative is the fact that LSU has 2 losses, but it's hard to put UGA in the CFP if you leave out the team that beat them and UGA is not getting left out. Tenn is most at risk because they have no hardware. No east title, no trip to Atlanta and no SEC title.

Reece thinks we don’t make the playoffs in a year we win the SEC while beating Bama and #1 Georgia. Nah. Ain’t happening.

There are a lot of ways to look at this. To me all SEC schools and their fans should regardless of whether their team wins the SEC or not SHOULD support the winner of the SECCG to be in the CFP.
If the SEC winner isn’t valued as a CFP participant it devalues the SEC and the SECCG.
Why play the game if the winner doesn’t get in? Not just this year but any year?

Reece and Pete again quack the duck and LSU fans are still in denial.
So now "head to head" matters more than a conference championship, but in 2011 when their darling lost the "game of the century", the "eye test" was more important.
The narrative will ALWAYS change to benefit whatever program they want it to benefit. LSU will always be a team that doesn't get that benefit.

Not the point.
These jackasses are using any excuse to keep LSU out. Their ridiculous circular logic doesn’t seem to include that if LSU wins the SEC, they beat Georgia head to head.
