I have to admit I haven't followed Wade other than knowing he had two pretty good years at McNeese and had NCS going in a good direction after having good seasons at LSU before the NCAA derailed him for his SAOs. With that being said,

Why is X(formally Twitter) so over ridden with so much hatred for Wade? I read at least 5 posts(at least) a day about Wade on X just going in raw from all directions. I look at the sports publications and individual people's X accounts and they come from all over the country hating like this. I never saw Cowboy fans hate like this or Tiger Fans for the most part. Wtf is going on ? There is no way a man could be hated like this for trying to be successful in a sport he coaches. Its like people want to see him fail and for what? The guy has been successful and is a good family man so wtf?

Its not even about that, its a real head scratcher why so much hate? I mean is it LSU? Why are so many people mad at LSU about it? Is it because he chose LSU and not a blue blood school like Duke or Virginia?

There really is ALOT of hypocrisy in the way WW is treated in comparison to other coaches.

I mean - did the anonymous coaches fume about Duke ruining the game by buying Zion's Mom a house she couldn't afford and getting her a job she wasn't qualified for? I missed those anonymous tantrums and scathing articles.

There are prominent coaches that have members of the media that will fall on the sword for them and say whatever the coach wants.

A fair amount of those members of the media also tend to have a liberal bias. Will Wade was hired by what can be considered a very conservative group from LSU.

Because he was dubbed by the hypocritical media and other coaches as the "face" of cheating...when they knew full well it has been going on for decades (the media) and they do the same thing (the coaches). It's like Rafael Palmero bashing Jose Canseco for saying Palmero used steroids...when he new damn good and well that he DID use steroids.

They don't like him because he didn't "suffer enough" as a skin on the wall for the media. When the story first broke in 2019, the media was going to "change college basketball forever". Less than two years later their crusade was rendered meaningless when the transfer rules and NIL became "legal". Because of that Wade wasn't banished to Elba forever like they hoped. He quickly popped up in Lake Charles and began having success once more.

They hate him because he broke an unwritten, ever shifting, moral code by returning to the school that fired him.

They hate him because he's not behaving in a way the media thinks he's supposed to behave.

But in the end all that matter is what LSU fans think. Which leads to the question for LSU fans: Do you want to be liked by people who really don't care about you? Or do you want to see your team win? By all accounts McMahon was liked by the media. However, I don't recall glowing articles about how he was such a great guy while he was leading the worst program in the SEC. That's because the media didn't really care about a guy who lost, constantly.

It's because they know what he can accomplish once he gets things back rolling again. He was beating the bluebloods out for prospects before NIL was legal. He had a strong team going into the tournament before he got fired and a top recruiting class coming in the following year. And he has beaten out a couple of bluebloods for some of these foreign players that they are so angry about. Personally I think next year is going to be huge for football, basketball and baseball. Then they really going to hate on LSU. Can't wait to watch.

Pretty much this reason right here in a nutshell with the entire media. If Wade was doing this at a blue blood school, nothing would be said about Wade and they’d say he’s killing it in recruiting. Just like if Kiffin were to have left Ole Miss for Bama, Ohio State, Michigan or USC in that same situation the media would praised Kiffin for doing what he thought was best for his career. But since it’s LSU it’s “nah frick that slimy peice of shite for doing what he did!”. The moral of this story is that the media does not want to see LSU more successful than their darling teams in football and basketball.

I listen to several different college basketball podcasts and betting shows. When Will Wade was at McNeese St and NC State, whenever his teams were discussed they always spoke well of Will Wade and how he would coach his team.

Then Will Wade leaves NC State to go back to a place that he loved and never wanted to leave.... and it's all of the sudden an all out assault on the man and his character. It amazes me how some act like Will Wade is a dirtbag for allegedly paying players before NIL, and yet we have proud beacons of the game who have had multiple Final Fours vacated for cheating. Kelvin Sampson at Houston is a model of great coaching yet he was popped at two different schools for cheating.

Will Wade allegedly paid a player... the horror. Go take a peak in Tuscaloosa at the coach running their prison ball program.

It's just because it is LSU and they don't like it when Troy Landry and the Swamp People start taking all of the guys that they want. They think of us as backwoods swamp rats that can't do anything. They can't fricking stand that LSU has this much potential in so many major sports. It is only going to get worse if Kiffin and Wade come out of the gate swinging haymakers. I can't fricking wait. frick everyone else.

This is the primary reason, IMO.

The Pat Fordes of the sports media world spent years on this huge cheating scandal thinking they had changed college basketball forever by getting a program like LSU to fire its head coach, only for Wade to end right back in same position rendering their years of work pointless.
