Maybe it’s a vacuum created by social media algorithms, but he’s been painted in the most vile light possible. You have coaches that allowed players to continue after being accesories to murder, coaches that are on record taking mistresses to get abortions and coaches that have been caught cheating at multiple stops, but the worst is Wade for playing within the loose parameters of a failing system.

The Pat Fordes of the sports media world
Pat Forde is/was the mouthpiece for Calipari and LSU was outbidding Kentucky for players.
Pat Forde also wasn’t mad that his daughter lost to Lia Thomas.

Why is X(formally Twitter) so over ridden with so much hatred for Wade? I read at least 5 posts(at least) a day about Wade on X just going in raw from all directions.
P T Barnum once said there is no such thing as bad publicity…
Or Oscar Wilde said the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about…

Losers tend to not like winners and Will Wade is a winner…This would be a good time to predict that Coach Wade will have LSU in the NCAA tourney this season. How do I know this? Because winners win! Go Tigers!

If it takes LSU exposing how stupid college sports have become because of the weak arse NCAA so be it.

I guess the minute a non basketball school shits all over a couple of blue bloods the powers that be will come cryin for change. As long as they can do it i guess they were all good, now they worried.

There really is ALOT of hypocrisy in the way WW is treated in comparison to other coaches.
Same can be said for Lane.

Yep, the change in tone towards Wade from sharkshit has been AMAZING to witness.

Mascona did an interesting bit on his show yesterday.
There is a reporter whose name I do not recall. Mascona played a clip for him ripping WW for signing the kid from St. John who played some G league.
Then he played a clip from that same reporter a few months back addressing pretty the same exact situation with Oats at Alabama and he framed it in a totally different way - said Oats was just operating within the system that exists and it's not really his fault it's that system.
I think you can go back an listen in podcast form or whatever, but it was an absolutely PERFECT illustration of how WW is treated by the national media in relation to other coaches. He nailed the hypocrisy and double standard square on the head.

Because it gives “sports” writers something to write about and people for the most part are sheep.

Because they're scared of how good a Will Wade LSU team can be, especially with him thinking outside the box and recruiting more international players than regular portal guys and beating the blue bloods at securing them

Completely.
There ALREADY "pros", including international pros playing college basketball. Illinois just went to the Final Four with several. Hell, McMahon's top commit before he was fired was one. Also, as Matt points out, programs like UNC and Kentucky were trying to sign the players LSU ultimately signed. If they go to Kentucky or UNC we hear nothing but how great a job their coaches did. Particularly UNC's first year HC. But Wade does it and it's "horrible for college basketball." I guess the double-standard is you are allowed to have a few international pros on your team...but not most of your starting 5. Somehow the former is ok, but the latter isn't.
No one listens to Wade when he does interviews...because that would throw a water on the hypocritical fire. But he has already acknowledged this will likely be a one season approach ahead of anticipated NCAA rule changes. But Wade doesn't owe the NCAA, or particularly the sports media, anything. If they had their druthers, they would have permanently ended his career as a D-1 basketball coach. Not because they had any prior personal vendetta against Wade. But because they could "celebrate" ending his career as a skin on the wall. That, despite the fact their feigned outrage was totally hypocritical knowing full well Wade wasn't doing anything all of the other big time HCs of power programs were doing. Hell, you had Dickie V constantly celebrating John Calipari..a guy who had TWO Final Four appearances vacated at TWO different schools for NCAA rules violations...and I like Calipari!
I don't think Wade ever wanted to be a "villain". But at this point I think he has just embraced it. Largely because he's not in the business of making his competition happy by living up to some arbitrary moral standard that they don't hold themselves to.
