Not really, but I didn’t want Orgeron. I was interested in Herman until the kissing video. That was creepy as hell.

Not only doesn't raise hand, but sits on both of them and does a self-check on taint while at it.

He had three straight top 10 classes for his first three years, so they had talent. He did decent there and they won, but just couldn't get to the next level after that Suger Bowl against UGA in his 2nd year.
I wanted Herman or Jimbo over Miles/Cam and O didn't even seem like a realistic choice. But I do feel like Jimbo or Herman would also have good success here. Still, the fact that we had a 15-0 season under O and the best season of all-time while Jimbo and Herman have only had decent succeses is hilarious. Only the biggest of homers would have thought that was possible.

Herman was my preferred hire, I was also ok with Jimbo

Ha. I have to admit to that being a slight red flag for me as well (though at the time I wanted anyone new who didn't have a dinosaur offense, so he could have dressed in drag on the sideline and I still would have probably been willing to look past it).
I suppose we can thank Tom Herman though for Burrow being in the crowded Ohio St. QB room and eventually transferring. Burrow said he owed a lot to Herman for believing in him and fighting for him to get an offer at Ohio State when Ohio State coaches and coaches from other big schools didn't want him. That put him on the radar.

I preferred Jimbo. I think Tom Herman's downfall was poor assistant coaching hires. He recruited well. None of the players seem to develop into anything special. And they had several games with terrible game plans.
