In an interview yesterday, he said they’ll be at 39, right where they wanted to. 39-41…. From what I heard too, that they can still put players on DSA. That 2025 date listed earlier on this thread is irrelevant.

On one of the post draft shows I was listening to yesterday, it was said Jay DSA'd last year's entire freshman class.

That was Moscona and that is incorrect. As stated earlier it had to be somebody already on the roster for the July 2025 deadline when DSAs were submitted to the NCAA.

He repeated it to Jay when Jay was on another show, and Jay said, that’s not quite accurate but it’s very hard to explain, and I’ll just say we got the numbers to work.

That’s possible. The rulebook for next year hasn’t come out yet, so we (people not in a college athletic dept) wouldn’t know, but thy coaches should.

They cannot still put players on DSA and the 2025 deadline for designating is relevant. However, all players designated by that deadline carry the DSA designation with them for their entire eligibility, including if they transfer to another school. So any players we designated last year and are still on the roster, and any of the portal transfers in that were previously designated don’t count toward the 34 roster limit.

Edit - I guess if a player was on your roster last year and you didn’t designated them, and are still on your roster this year but have the potential to be cut, in theory could still be designated, but that is unclear. In addition, players that were designated by the July 2025 deadline got a special 2 week portal opening. If they are still allowed to be designated, would they get a special portal opening now? With all of the players we added through the portal and the incoming class, would this lead a player that sees playing time hard to come by enter the portal?

He has immense power and has the ability to reach 30 HRs in a season if we can make a run in Omaha.

Not tech savvy enough to provide the link using iPhone but this was announced. Didn’t have this guy listed on the potential roster for next year. Not sure who I need to remove but the article states that LSU was set to have 40 players heading into next year. Since we have 41 listed, does anyone know at this point who needs to be removed?
LINK

LSU Baseball signee Anthony Murphy announced on social media that he is decommitting from the program and reopening his recruitment.

Murphy, an outfielder from Corona, Calif., was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 16th round last week.

Murphy's decommitment was somewhat expected and puts the Tigers' roster in a better spot.

Following the MLB Draft last week, LSU was set to have 40 players heading into next year, with a limit of 34. The Tigers will have some “designated student-athletes” and end up at 39 players in the fall, according to Jay Johnson.

No one will need to be cut, Jay had said it in multiple interviews. Basically with the special designations that we used last year (and possibly some portal transfers having been the DSA on prior team), we will be at or below the cutoff. Those players don't count towards roster limit if they would potentially be at risk is my understanding

Surrendering both a 1.7mm MLB signing bonus and LSU NIL just to defer your draft a year and maybe move your number up 250k would be a terrible move.

Updated to remove Major Osbolt. Now at 39 players. LINK

LSU signee Major Osbolt announced on social media that he has committed to North Carolina instead of joining Jay Johnson's program in Baton Rouge.

Osbolt, a 6'4 right-handed pitcher out of JUCO power Walters State (Morristown, TN), had been committed to LSU since November.
