The first TD pass attempt was under thrown and not a reasonable catch to expect a receiver to make, even a great one. People are simply hating on the kid for things that weren’t his fault.

The second one was on him. Not focused and not even expecting it. Clearly some disconnect, but he needs to expect a pass to him as a possibility every play.

So he dropped one TD not two.

Are the hands and chest a bad place for the ball to be?

He had 2 hands on it.

Chase makes that catch. He thinks he’s a first rounder, be a first rounder.

It’s also a play we’ve seen him make in the past.

ever heard the saying, "it hits your hands you've gotta catch it?"

He got hit in the body by a ball in the endzone. It is not unreasonable to expect a Power 5 receiver to make that play

First one was tough, but he's a future NFL WR1 and should make that grab 90% of the time.

He dropped another square in his chest, even though it was late in the route.

A third he quit on the route and it would've been right on the money.

He had a bad game.

I was at the game, so maybe I saw it wrong, but I thought he had a couple of other drops as well. I know he had at least one.

It was broken up and I wouldn't consider it a straight drop but it definitely wasn't unreasonable to catch that.

And I said I agreed that was on him. I am taking about the first one. It was under thrown, forcing an awkward body adjustment and brought the defender back into the play. Could he have made that first catch? Sure. Does an elite WR make it every time? No chance in hell. I think some people are simply overestimating how consistent some top receivers are at catches like that.

Almost like people calling Kobe clutch when he was anything but.

It was under thrown.

But, the DB never touched it. It was all Boutte.

Tough catch though so I can’t fault him too much.

Second one was dog shite

Sorry, your #1 WR and 1st round draft pick *should* come up with at least 1 of these catches...

That 2nd pass was a beauty that popped him right in his numbers threaded between 3 defenders, Boutte at least needs to have his head looking; as you said:

That's piss poor play on his part.

It was good coverage, but still could have been caught (see FSU's WR making a 1-handed TD grab). It wasn't a straight drop like that other short pass he dropped.

He is a great player and hopefully he'll be fine, but my bigger issue was him not even looking for the ball on what would have been a TD (as the announcer pointed out).

The first one was admittedly a tough catch, but later in the game an FSU receiver caught a TD pass with one hand while our CB had a hold on his other hand. If you believe yourself to be a 1st round NFL draft pick...you make that catch!

We expect Boutte to catch it. We don't expect anyone else

Paint it any way that will make you feel better the truth is he dropped 2 TD passes

But again, feel free to rewrite it any way that will make your sensitive little arse feel better; we wouldn't want to offend your delicate little feelings.
