It's Baton Rouge. He should be happy he has something to block bullets from the inevitable drive bys.

Image is from last Fall and shows the pole that was replaced being on the line between the vets office next door
Entergy's water line story is BS. The water lines are marked in the the vet parking lot near the corner. That water line is clearly between the pole and the street. The vet's water meter is 10 feet away from the property line.

Photos look like they planted the pole in a limestone gravel base. I'd guess they dug a hole, dropped the pole, and backfilled with the gravel.
Entergy was kind of enough to did give him some extra limestone gravel so he should have thanked them for that at least.

Entergy indicated they tried to find a better location, but it's their easement, so it really doesn't matter.

It’s confusing in the video but I’m thinking they meant the driveway to the south going to the neighbor’s house. Looks like Doug’s meter is pretty close to that driveway and the property line there.

Couple of points:
It’s not right in the middle of his lot.
He does live on a major street. You gotta expect large poles and even street widening if you live there long enough. Cities do grow you know.
He will get over it. That’s not the only pole that went up and he didn’t say jack shite about how other large poles might have affected other people on that road.
Last and most important point: I bet they are liberal as frick judging by his shirt and where they live. frick em.

I'd be curious if anything can be done under Title II of the ADA for accessibility because they put that thing right in the middle of the sidewalk. I know major constructions have to take into consideration bringing curb ramps and sidewalks up to ADA code when they do work.
For sidewalks it’s PROWAG, but that doesn’t really matter.
The requirements is 4 ft continuous. If they don’t have 4 ft, all entergy has to do is pour a little concrete. It looks like they have room. The real question would be if they have a clear line of sight leaving the driveway. If it creates a sight obstruction and a wreck happens entergy is liable.

Most shocking part of this story is how quickly Entergy was able to do all that work.

I’d be pissed. I’d have to hire a painter to paint something that blends in with the street behind it

That pole just didn't show up overnight, what's the real story?
So many posting this. Stop.
I’ve seen it with my own eyes outside my neighborhood. Entergy showed up with about 12 tucks. Yes the pole was dropped off the day prior but it was fully installed in probably 5 hours then every truck left.

Clever.
ADA is the bane of my existence sometimes at work
I could see him filing an ADA and them saying "Well, OK. We are now rerouting the entire sidewalk through the middle of the front yard using Eminent Domain. Here is your check for $2600 to cover the $30,000 worth of your property. Thanks for bringing that sidewalk issue to our attention."
Doug then goes out and builds a killdozer.
