They sure in the frick didn't look like the best in CFB against bama last year. They got blown up.

Will Clapp be healthy enough to play Saturday? I saw the injury report. but didn't see any specifics.

I wouldn't think it would keep him out. I'm pretty sure he didn't miss many plays against UF and ended up finishing the game.

I think LF7 made the line look better than it was. Nothing against them at all.

You don’t have the best OL in college football with a terrible LT. Sorry it destroys the narrative.

The narrative is that you continue to push that Malone is a awesome LT which is clearly not the case. He wasn't great last year nor this season. However, I'm thankful that he decided to wait a few months before becoming the fuzz and play this season because he has been our only option until Saturday.

wtf?

At the very least it would mean that he was the dumbest genius. I don't se him having a great NFL career but being the starting LT on an elite OL does mean something.

Not when your line is short OTs, you take backup OG/C and slide them to the end because they are the most agile option you have. Ok, ok it does mean a little something. He has some experience playing last season. He was the 5th best lineman out of that starting 5 and he started at LT, if that tells you anything.

Mississippi State and Syracuse are both younger on the OL. Bama has the same amount of youth.*

*before someone jumps on me, this is based on our starting OL at the beginning of the year. We looked pretty bad then too.

Yea, LSU was a lot older before the frickin season too.

When you're done, you can compare that to our actual starting O-line from Saturday: LT - Malone RS Sr LG - Brumfield RS Jr C - Clapp RS Jr RG - Ingram Fr RT - Weathersby Jr The O-line is lacking depth, but they haven't been starting a bunch of freshmen. Where does this stuff come from?

Not young. Older than Bama OL.

What has become obvious is that some of you will only digest what you want to. At this point in the season, it has really become a moot point but agenda of having one of the "oldest lines" in the SEC is so misleading because it doesn't tell the whole story. The interior of the line had 0 starts combined coming into the season at their positions. KJ was the only returning starter at their position coming into the season. Toby was the only other starter that had any career starts at their position.

KJ has 5 starts LT in '17; 0 starts in '14 (5 games LT, 65 snaps) & '15 (12 gm, 62 snaps) & 12 starts in '16
Brum has 6 starts LG; 0 starts in '15 & '16, 160 total snaps
Clapp 6 starts at C; 12 starts LG, 11 starts RG
Ingram 5 starts RG; played in 6 games
Charles 2 starts RG/RT; played in 6 games
Weathersby 5 starts RT; 12 games in '15 (1 start RT) & 8 games in 16' (3 starts RT)
Cushenberry 0 starts; 0 snaps in '16, played in 4 games
Magee 0 starts; 3 games in '16 (no snap count), played in 5 games in '17
Savage 0 starts; 0 snaps in '16, played in 4 games in '17
Declaus 0 starts; played in 6 games

It would be a much stronger excuse if the OLine didn’t look like shite when they have FOUR UPPERCLASSMAN starting ALL of which have been starters at one point or another in their career.

I don’t buy the youth argument and never will. We’ve been young and had depth problems in the past. It’s something you work through with good coaching.

Exactly. I'm so tired of the bullshite excuses. The OL that started the season had 4 guys that were at least juniors. Three of them started all last year. In 2012 we lost 3 OL before week 6 (our best one in week 1). We replaced them with a true freshman, a redshirt freshman, and somebody else. After that our offensive line played better than the guys they had replaced.

Lay blame on transfers or recruiting but we can’t suddenly make these players more experienced, more skilled and stronger.

The problem with continuing to trot out this argument in defense of O (that's the point with this isn't it?) is that these kids have now beaten a ranked SEC team on the road.

So...which is it? Are we so talentless and inexperienced that we are simply unable to line up against Troy in our own yard despite world class coaching to get a win, or is our coaching so exceptional that they are able to coach 'em up to the point where three freshman can play on the OL in The Swap to come out victorious in the time frame of 7 days?

My money...we're young and lack experience, but we've been young and inexperienced before on occasion over the past 17 seasons. If you can win on the road in Gainseville with an even younger OL than was on the field at home versus Troy, than the issue is coaching either getting them to perform up to their ability or to motivate them to play as well as they can.

They didn't suddenly get older and more experienced in a fricking week, after all.

Show me one time where I said Malone was an awesome LT. I don’t think he’s great, but he’s certainly serviceable. The original post I responded to said that he’s not an SEC LT which clearly isn’t the case.

Again, I never said he was great. But, you don’t have the best OL in college football with a terrible LT.

Where are all these people coming from...seriously? This is 2017...either you're a child who has just found the website, or you've been in a fallout bunker and just discovered the internet. There is no rational explanation for how all these "life long Tiger fans" have suddenly discovered Tiger droppings as if it's not the first thing that appears if you Google LSU Message Board.

Chicken...seriously, you advertising somewhere? Kudos on the influx of "new" members, I guess...

tRant: where 4 freshmen playing on the OL doesn't necessarily mean you're young on the OL.

I am pretty sure our back up LG ended up at LT. Dyworcyx (not close to right)
