but so far this thread has delivered the names of a politician, a 76 year old, and 2 dead people.
Because this thread is in jest. It's not meant to be serious. In that vein, your suggestion of Cannizaro fits, because he would not be a serious candidate to work at LSU again.

Majority of the people in this board can’t name more than 5 head baseball coaches in college and those 5 are not coming to LSU. LSU isn’t getting an established head coach from a top program. They all make great money now and are basically on lifetime contracts at the current school. LSU is probably the only place in the country that will think about replacing you after year 4 or 5 if you aren’t winning enough in Omaha. Not games or sec championships but Omaha specifically. Why would you leave a long term contract for relatively equal money for that?
I agree, for the most part, with all of that. You have to make every single one of them say no though.
For some, you have coaching in the SEC to offer.
For some, you can bump the money up some.
For some, you can provide better facilities (although that gap has closed for some).
For some, you can offer better overall support for baseball.
For almost all, I think the opportunity to coach at LSU would be something worth thinking about.
I don't think it happens after this year anyway. LSU's pitching is too good not to make a lot of noise this year. They will win enough games, at minimum, to not get Mainieri fired.

Can't believe that took till page 2.

It's another good satirical suggestion. I mean, when the biggest complaint is that Mainieri hires too many former players, why wouldn't we hire one to replace him?
Especially when that guy has already dropped multiple games to SWAC teams this season.

Drive a Mayflower truck full of cash to Louisville, and park it in front of the Baseball office.

This suggestion doesn't belong in this thread. Because this suggestion has merit.

Should be on the list for sure

This.
We didn't hire Woody just because he's a short fatty that wears awkward cowboy boots and has frat hair.

It's funny the evolution of hot names to replace CPM over the years.
For a while it was Schlossnagle or O'Connor.....then both of them missed the tournament (not Omaha...they didn't make a regional).
Then it was Gary Gilmore....he didn't make the tournament the year after winning the CWS and then got sent home in a regional the two following years.
Then it was O'Sullivan......he failed to host a regional last year and got sent home by Dallas Baptist.
The reality is, it's very difficult to consistently make it to Omaha. If CPM underachieves again this year, I'm all for making the change, but I don't think there's a nobrainer hire out there right now. There are some good candidates, but all come with the risk of producing worse results.

Blake Dean
He almost has a losing record at UNO.

People seem to not realize that the only skill Blake Dean had that got him the UNO job is that he didn't cost much to hire.

You joke, but I bet 90% of the people screaming to get rid of CPM couldn’t name one other college baseball coach.

HC Dan McDonnell
Hitting coach/RC: James Ramsey
Pitching coach: Roger Williams

HC Dan McDonnell
Is a good option, but hasn't been any more consistent than PM.
Over the last 5 years, McDonnell has:
Record: 237-76
CWS appearances: 2
Bounced in Super: 2
Bounced in Regional: 1
Mainieri:
Record: 230-106
CWS appearances: 2
Bounced in Super: 2
Bounced in Regional: 1
