Title IX stuff is specifically mentioned in the “for cause” firing portion of Orgeron’s contract. If he is caught up in any of that it’s a slam dunk firing for cause.
Also, the very first duty of Head Coach on page 2 is “administering, leading and managing the Program in a professionally appropriate and competent manner which allows the Team to effectively compete in ... the Power Five.”
It says on page 7 that “unreasonable refusal or repeated failure” to do so can also allow termination for cause.
Orgeron Contract
No AD with an ounce of brains or foresight would use the “administering” clause for something like play calling or a failed coordinator. But it wouldn’t be hard to argue that a mass exodus of true freshmen that leaves LSU bellow 60 scholarship players is enough of a leadership failure to fire for cause.
Woodward doesn’t have to prove any of this stuff in court. He just needs a sufficiently plausible threat that he can prove it and fire O for nothing, to convince O to go away in exchange for an NDA and 40 cents on the dollar.

Not after backstabbing Les. Who's going to want him as an assistant?

It's a stretch, but the pics with Baille aren't exactly professionally appropriate.

I put Fleck in the same boat as O, Miles, Harbaugh, etc.
They are quirky coaches that are more characters than football coach. Miles was the Mad Hatter, grass eater. O is the gravely Geaux Tigers guy
It drives me nuts to see week and week the media eat that up.

I get that they can use this as leverage to force O into a lesser buyout settlement. He isn’t going to have the cash for a long court battle. I keep bringing it up because there are a bunch of people around here who think “cause” is a magic wand to make O’s ENTIRE buyout disappear with no consequences.
To make that happen, evidence WOULD have to hold up in court because O would definitely sue. Even Art Briles tried to sue Baylor and he had little chance of winning. Rick Pitino was able to force a settlement from Loserville when they tried to fire him for free, and they had a pretty solid case. It’s really all about how low they can force that number to get rid of him and make sure he can’t talk.

That fits the complicity standard in Title IX. The Accuser has all of the advantages in the way Title IX is written.

Are they not allowing him to fire Pelini?
Posted on 12/8/20 at 4:12 pm to misey94
Absolutely. Woodward is running a multi-million dollar business. If he fires O it’ll be a business deal.
Even if LSU had an iron clad case, if they win at trial and pay zero, there is nothing stopping O from spilling his guts or worse.
The saying is that you don’t pay escorts for sex, you pay them to leave without falling in love. Same here. You aren’t paying O to go away. You’re paying him to go away without saying anything that could hurt LSU.
