He supposedly wanted to continue to coach Ole Miss.
Now he is LSU's head football coach. They likely have an upcoming bowl game...... so he coaches them right ? If not, why not ? :dunno:

Dan Devine left Mizzou in 1970, but it was to coach the Green Bay Packers. He came back to college football after that, and coached Notre Dame.

Oh yes , oh yes ! The rare and wonderful Lima Syndrome. It's sort of the Stockholm Syndrome in reverse. As onlookers we vilified Bran Kelly as LSU's coach, but now there seems to be compassion and empathy.
