Hopefully O realizes his job is riding on getting the next hires right. No more buyouts. No more do overs. No more bbq buddies from his USC days.

He'd have to be pretty dense if he doesn't. Coaches don't get two opportunities to replace both coordinators. If the new hires don't work out, you're next.

Personally? I’m good with giving O a year to try and fix this mess and take a stand against some of the outside forces. Apparently recruiting isn’t taking a hit and the players leaving has been exaggerated

I find it insane O gets to hire another DC and OC essentially with E retiring. If he promotes Linehan than that tells me he seriously doesn't want to be a head coach long term.

The blame game is probably pointless at this point, but out of curiosity, who was actually responsible for the Bo hire?

Most LSU fans are blaming O for that hire, but to my knowledge Woodward is the one who had a past relationship with Pelini. I believe I read an article where Woodward reached out to Pelini to get his recommendation on his first hire at UW.

Was Pelini actually Woodward’s hire that O went along with?

This would be extremely difficult for me to believe and I feel like you're grasping at straws to prop up Orgeron.

Are you propping up Woodward?

Hiring/paying Jimbo a zillion dollars looks more foolish than letting Orgeron pick his coordinators.

What bbq buddy from USC has he hired as a coach? John Robinson is a personal assistant to the coach. Nothing to do with onfield coaching.

No, I’m not trying to defend O...he clearly has lost the team and maybe the program, I just would like to know the reality/truth of who drove the train on that specific hire.

Honesty it’s more about Woodward than O, Coach O deserves every bit of criticism he is getting, regardless if Pelini was Woodward’s choice or not.

This is the article I had read on the Pelini-Woodward relationship:

LINK

quote:

The Nebraska coach and UW athletic director Scott Woodward are good friends owing to mutual ties to LSU, and Woodward admits that had there been a chance, he would have talked to Pelini when looking to hire a coach following the 2008 season.

quote:

So when the time came to hire a coach in 2008, Woodward instead called Pelini merely for advice — with Pelini helping to nudge Woodward toward his eventual hire of Steve Sarkisian. “We talked and he had an enormous amount of respect for coach Sarkisian and thought the world of him,” Woodward said.

I don't think so. That's not my intention anyway. I just highly doubt that coming off the season we had last year, Orgeron wouldn't have had full autonomy to hire the DC he wanted.

Is our "shadow" staff still here, and what the heck do they do?

Let me guess, the only two guys who knew how to effectively use them were Aranda and Brady....?

I know you'll duck this question again, but here you go anyway:

Who's the better DC? Aranda or Pelini?

I don’t think he was “forced” on O... I think O was totally on board with it. And I imagine if O had been opposed to it then it certainly wouldn’t have happened. But i’m thinking it was Woodward’s idea/suggestion

I’m just speculating, maybe one of the insiders can provide some more insight of how that hire came to be.

Despite holding a PhD and having served as the former admin of NASA, Sean O’Keefe faced a lot of pushback when he was given the position as chancellor because he was not an academic researcher and had never previously been a tenured faculty anywhere.

O'Keefe didn't have a PhD. The highest degree he held was a masters degree. Plus, he was the Chancellor. This discussion about Woodward being the LSU System President is even more unbelievable. The LSU System President is much higher than the Chancellor. No way I believe Woodward is in line to jump that high up the food chain, not with his lack of academic credentials and with his limited experience in academic settings. If someone offered him that to get him to come to LSU, I doubt they had the ability to actually follow through with that offer.
