The running backs were pretty bad, for the most part they got their blocks but Diggs was pretty bad running the ball. He look very indecisive and constantly just ran into the pile.

No carries for Jackson, Emory had one.

With 3 games remaining Jackson needs more carries and play Holly in two of those games.

Were they bad? Or did we just not utilize them much? I recall Diggs and Williams having a couple tough runs where they were hit esrly, but pushed the pile for a few extra tough yards.

No they were not. Every time they touched the ball they were going for 3/4 yards.

They were not utilized nearly enough. Specifically on FOURTH AND ONE

I think it’s more of bama just having a solid defense.

We hust haven’t seen that personally in a few years now.

1. Alabama has a pretty stout rushing defense.

2. We didn’t run the ball very much anyway. The RBs only had 13 attempts. 4 of those 13 were in short yardage situations (one was a 2yd TD).

3. Trey Holly..? Why would he get touches at this point over Diggs, Williams, or Jackson outside of garbage time or Georgia State? Because Diggs had a handful of short runs against Alabama?

Meh. Willams averaged 4.8 YPC. Diggs did what was asked of him- get tough yards up the middle vs the best DL we’ve faced. They only had 12 carries.

Jackson had a pop pass sweep that was really a run, but he only picked up one yard. That was the play before Daniels took off for the big run that set up our end of the first half TD.

One thing I noticed about LSU RBs-they seem strong af. They were not getting tackled by one dude last Saturday.

Seems like you are a little lazy to do some critical thinking instead of just shitting on everything all the fricking time.

Were they bad or just not involved? Williams had 7 carries, Emery had 5. Their averages were both outstanding but they were clearly just change-of-pace options.

Jayden having 163 rushing yards has nothing. To do w an offense that takes away from rb’s? Lol

Diggs had 8 carries.

That’s not his fault.

Exactly.

The underdeployment of the RBs were EXACTLY why we lost Saturday night. Bama couldn't stop the run; we should have ground out first downs and let Jayden run and pass only sparingly. Anything we needed to do to keep the Bama offense off the field as much as possible. I know Jayden and Malik had to be primadonnas out there and show off, but I really think the Tigers could have thrown out a few 9 or 10 minute TD drives and let Bama counter with what would have been a well-rested offense.

I don't think they were bad. Diggs and Williams combined for only 12 carries. Diggs was only stopped once for no gain. Williams had 4 carries for 20 yards. Frankly, I felt Williams looked to be the better option that night as he was more decisive. Perhaps the ONLY thing I haven't understood this year on offense was the RB rotation. Well that, and the quick roll out pass on 4th and short when it is likely Diggs/Williams could have picked up one GD yard

Still, LSU didn't need the RBs to have a great game. Really, the only thing that stopped LSU's offense....at least until the personal foul that took Daniels out of the game...was LSU themselves. LSU went 85 yards on 5 plays for the first TD of the game. LSU was moving the ball again on their next drive until the dumb 4th and 1 play call. The next series was really the only time LSU was stopped by good defense by Alabama (a sack resulting in a missed FG). LSU scored two straight TDs to end the 1st half (the last covering 75 yards in less than a minute and an unbelievably stupid blindside block by Anderson). They then went right down the field on the opening possession of the 2nd half for another TD to take the lead.

The game was put out of reach when:

1. Campbell held to negate a 25 yard Daniels run that would have set up LSU at the Alabama 35.

2. Taylor dropped a pass that would have put LSU at 3rd and 3 or 4. Instead, LSU had to try to convert 3rd and 17

3. Tipped pass at LOS was intercepted.

4. Daniels was knocked out of the game.

LSU's defense was shite all night. But if Taylor catches the pass on 2nd and 17, LSU likely picks up the first down and continues scoring (given they had scored TDs on their previous 3 possessions). That would have made it 35-28 LSU. Instead, LSU punts and Alabama scores to go up 35-28. Alabama then got the int and scored to make it 42-28...which was enough once Daniels was knocked out.

Yep. Had absolutely NOTHING to do with the defense at all.

Man if the RBs would have gotten just a few more tackles on Milroe, we would have destroyed them.

Yes, those 10 carries would have been better utilized letting the RBs get 40-50 yards instead.
